Evelyn's Story

Life I went to work for Southern Bell in Atlanta soon after graduating. I met my husband here, and we celebrated 42 years of marriage this past June. We have one son that is a Computer Engineer and travels all over the world. He currently lives in Seattle Washington with his wife Kathy, and our toddler grandson Alex. You Tennessee football fans will love this: he (our son) has ORANGE blood. GO VOLS!! I became a Christian after watching Billy Graham on TV, 3 years into my marriage. The love of God still overwhelms me (John 3:16). Asking Jesus into my heart, repenting of my sins, attending a good bible believing church, praying, and reading my bible daily has changed the direction of my life for the better. If you haven't done this, you should. Currently, I am enjoying retirement. I have a new role being "Granny" to our grandson, and love it. God has blessed me tremendously with family, and friends. ed Halls Elementary in the first grade. We moved from Halls to Powell and I attended Powell Elementary second through eighth grade. I then attended Powell High my Freshman and Sophomore years. I attended East High my Junior year. I attended Powell High my Senior year, and graduated there. Workplace I began working for Southern Bell on June 21, 1965 as a telephone operator in Atlanta, Ga. My first promotion was to an instructor about 6 months later. About 6 months after that I was promoted to Supervisor/Service Assisstant.In 1970 I transferred to the East Point Traffic department. In 1971, after 6 years in the Traffic Department, I transferred to the business office as a Service Rep. I worked a few weeks on Ashby St, in Atlanta, and moved with that office to Fairburn Rd. in Atlanta. I worked there as a Service Rep for about 3 years. I then transferred to the Jonesboro Business office in 1974, where I remained until I retired in 1996.
