Evelyn's Story
Current Name: Evelyn Schall
Since retiring in the spring of 2004, I have lived with husband Chuck Schneider (off-and-on since 1958) who retired in the fall of 1993.
Chuck (BSEE) was an engineer/engineering manager/program manager with Boeing for just shy of 35 years. I (BA Physics, MS Engineering Mechanics) had a 30-year-long career in engineering/engineering management (and one stint as program manager) with Boeing/Cessna/BDM/Cessna.
Chuck (W0LTH) and I (K0DEY) are still amateur radio operators (that's how we met - via Morse code - in 1956) and were active volunteers in the American Red Cross Disaster Services (he, 1998-2018, as an operations director, and I, 2005-2019, as a liaison to various levels of government - usually FEMA). Although I started flying in 1964, and although I was able to accumulate many free flying hours (and an instrument rating) at Cessna, it has been years since I've been behind the controls of an airplane. Another childhood ambition, to parachute, was fulfilled when I made a few jumps in the late 1970s. My third ambition, to visit the moon, was not/is not to be. Oh, well!
We have one married daughter in the Wichita area, born 1959, one divorced daughter in New Hampshire, born 1962), a divorced granddaughter (Wichita area born in 1983), and two great-grandsons (Wichita area, born May 2010 & May 2011).
P.S. For those who are sticklers for accuracy: Although I always considered myself a member of the Class of 1956, I was actually graduated from Southeast High in June of 1955. I'm happy to read about the class of '56.
