Ezra T's Story
After graduation , I moved to the University District and eventually bought a home in the Ravenna neighborhood. You may remember that I enjoyed photography and sold advertising for the Yearbook for a couple of years. Maybe also, that my mother had a ladies dress store in Des Moines, south of the airport. I’ve been self-employed since before I was done at the UofW majoring in Graphic Design and Printmaking. I used those analog skills to satisfy my mother’s store and other advertising clients. Also did some job shop printing through the ‘70’s and early ‘80s then switched to digital. So no need for darkroom skills any more. ld a timber frame home with an outbuilding Studio. In 1984, I was introduced to my future wife, Loie, a Montana rancher’s daughter, through mutual friends while she was finishing graduate school in Minnesota. We were married in 1986 and started our family with our first daughter, Jesselle, followed by twin daughters, Loiezelle and Ami Joie. When our oldest was school-aged, we moved full time to Stuart Island and sold our mainland home. Loie the only person I’ve ever known who could have handled this life with a family. It has had its challenges. We stayed until the Twins finished 8th grade then moved in with Grandma for their high school years. Leaving has been harder since Grandma has been blinded by macular degeneration. We spend April to October here on the Island. During that time we started a little souvenir business, the Boundary Pass Traders. It appeals to boaters who come for the natural beauty and its the best place around to watch the Orcas from land. We are well known for our “Honor Payment” policy. I may well have cashed a check of yours and never have known it was from a classmate.
