Faith's Story
You guys are so lame about contacts. Why bother with Classmates.com? Le Sigh.
Update 8/2010:
I'm still in the process of recovering and doing well with minor complications. I'm going off all pain meds and although I've had an increase in pain (dur) I feel pretty good. I have a large portrait I'm doing for a friend and so far, so good. It's a difficult portrait but fun, too. Been swimming a lot in our pool and doing my aquatic exercises. Love swimming more than just about anything...
That's pretty much it. How about you guys?
Faith
Update 3/10:
I'm still recovering and doing very well.
I've been more involved in my art, particularly portraits, and am amazed by the fact that in doing art, the possible progression in skills can be never-ending. I find that exciting. I lean toward realism and strive toward Classicism. I will move on to figure drawing/painting, too, and I continue to love still life, although I've not done still life much in a long time during my quest to improve my portraits, which I've committed to. It's exhilarating to do something well and I love it when I'm pleased and amazed that I pulled something off! Truthfully, I never want to take that for granted; I want to be amazed and delighted each and every time - that is part of the essence of life! Anyway, I could go on and on but I'll spare you that.
I have reconnected with some people that I either barely knew in the past, or haven't heard of in a kajillion years, and that's been great. There's a connection that I feel toward people I grew up with or around and I look forward to learning of the kind of people y'all have turned out to be, and what you've done with your lives.
My husband and I still live with just my dog - my labradoodle, Charley-Madeleine - and although the economy is a strain for most of us these days, we're doing well with each other and our personal lives.
This girl is glad to be alive and I thank God for what I've been given...
Faith
Update 12/09:
My life is a miracle. Truly. I almost died in August (enough so that the doctors had my kids and family come in to say goodbye in ICU to me), from blood clots that traveled into my heart and lungs; now I'm better and I can now sit upright for more than a few moments. I can sit for an hour sometimes and sometimes more or less, but at least I'm no longer lying down 24/7. This has completely changed my life; I'm in control of it. My husband and I are both still in shock about it and are thrilled. This Christmas will be the best ever. I strongly believe this is about God and I praise Him for this timely mercy...
Life
I used to be a nurse; I worked with profoundly retarded/multi-handicapped children, and it was fantastic, until I hurt myself and had to retire early. Now I consider myself an artist (oils, pastels, graphite, charcoal); it's very important to me and I do my art often. I'm an excellent cook (culinary school but haven't finished - had to quit about 5 yrs. ago - I intend on continuing just for myself). I'm married 11 yrs., have a wonderful, funny, highly intellectual husband; I have 2 kids, 1 is almost 33 (son,...Expand for more
Gabriel, who's also an artist), one is 22 (daughter, Hannah). I also have 2 stepkids that I consider my own: 26 yr. old (Sara), 23 yr. old (Scott). Good life, happy (took long time, well worth the wait). I've had some back surgery due to a little freak accident years ago that caused me to be bedridden for the past 2 yrs. because I could not sit up, nor could I stand in one place for more than a couple mins. At the present, I walk much better and I can stand in one spot for maybe 5 mins. or more... Unfortunately, I gained a lot of weight from lying down for so long (first 1 1/2 yr. I could barely turn from side to side); this must be a shock to those who remember me being stick-thin! I've lived in different areas/different states but have been back in the area in Ohio a long time and like it. I am particularly interested in knowing how Dick Schley is doing and Mike Murphy, oh and Ted Jewel - anyone know? - I'd love to know how all of you guys are, too.
Update: April, '09. I collaborated with a horsetrack photographer and our plan in a very condensed version is: he'll give me his "horse/horse&Jockey" pics and I will paint them on canvas in oil or acrylic (I prefer oils), or draw them with pastels, then he'll take them to his office at the racetrack and hopefully, we'll sell the idea to either horse owners, or other interested parties, to personally paint their favorites. We have other plans in the works with dogs and people. He's a great photographer and I am pitiful. He can't draw or paint so it's a good match (I need him, he needs me). I started my first painting in oils for his track today; so far so good.
My twin-sister, Dayle, is doing well. She's married (24 or 25 yrs. now). She has 1 daughter, and a stepdaughter, too. Dayle is so talented with decor and gardening, and she used to do photography, which she was very creative with. We are very close.
My son, Gabriel, who is going on 36 yrs. old in Aug. is an artist, too. He is incredibly good; he can whip out a piece in the time it takes me to just analyze how I'm going to do mine. He's got an eye for quickly putting down "correct perspective" that I envy. He went to Kent State for 3 yrs. and has 1 yr. to go but hasn't been able to go any further for now. He's one of the funniest people I've ever met in my life, a trait that I feel is imperative (my husband is right up there with him. Gabe became very funny at the age of four and his wit & humor has increased over the years exponentially.
My daughter, Hannah, is planning on attending cooking school, hopefully this fall; she wants to be a baker. She is beautiful. We've done catering gigs together in the past, which I loved doing with her. Come to think of it, Gabriel and I did catering gigs together a couple times; one big one was for the crew and artists with Mos Def. (I think that's how you spell the name - I had no idea who Mos Def was at the time.)
My stepson, Scott, is now an Intern for Congresswoman (OH) Ms. Fudge, in Washington, DC. He's an incredibly good person, bright and full of promise.
That's it for the update. Oh, and I lost 30 lbs. Wahoo!
