Faith's Story
Life
I have been married for 31years, and living in a
small rancher on an acre of ground in rural Slatington, Pa.
My husband was a truck mechanic for a truck leasing company(Ryder) for 7 yrs., but because of health issues, he had to quit and go on disabilty. He was later (2011) diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease and is unable to do much of anything.
I am unemployed and on disability.
I was diagnosed with "Multiple Myeloma" in August of 2007(its a malignant condition of the plasma cells that causes fractures). I had 2 fractures- one in the Sternum/a tumor and one in the Thoraic T4. Both of them caused alot of pain for a long time. They are both healed and the tumor is gone because of 10 treatments of radiation.
In June of 2008 I went through Chemo and "Stem Cell harvesting"(4 days of circulating my blood through a machine and taking out the good part of the blood and freeze it. Then in July, I had Chemo treatment and "Stem Cell transplantation".
At this time I am in Remission(2009).
I am still dealing with pain in my back. In Aug. of 2011, I had Thoracic fusion surgery done(T-2-6) to repair the fracture. I still deal with pain from the fusion and I am taking Gabap...Expand for more
entin pain medication.
Jack(husband), I had to put him in a nursing home in 2003, because of being re-diagnosed with "Atrophy Demetia". I could not take care of him, anymore. Because of that, I had to move out of our home of 34 years. It's "For Sale" still.
I moved to an apartment above Lehighton, with my 2 dogs(mom and son) and a cat, in March. 2 months later, I had a fire. I lost everything( furniture)of 34 years, all's that I left is 14 boxes. I also lost, the son(Bootz) and my cat. It's has been a very horrible, and very depressing, 4 months. I was in such a deep depression, that I have to go to a psychologist, treatments, and a therapist. I am doing a little better, but still have vision of Bootz looking at me and not able to get him out.
Now, I am living in an apartment in Walnutport, with Nikki(mom). Thank God!! I still have her. She has kept me going and sane. because I know that I have to take care of her. Also, I never would have made it through all of this, if it wasn't for my Pastor, and my church family. They supported me, by giving me furniture, kitchen items, anything that I needed, they gave freely and most of all, a lot of "Prayers" were being said.
