pic Gold Medallist Carey Strug to name a few. She moved up the ranks and was commissioned to be Editor-In-Chief for the MLK, Jr. Supplement which received recognition from the Oklahoma Press Association. Chappell was responsible for layout and design as well as getting such notable people involved as: President Clinton, Fly Jock Tom Joyner, Oprah Winfrey, Designer Anthony Mark Hankins, and several other notables. The supplement was not her greatest accomplishment both she and her mother graduating with honors and receiving their Masters degrees in May 1996.
Her writing caught the attention of Television Director, Arthur Anderson who hired her over the telephone to produce her own show-Face to Face with Lisa Chappell. Developing a talk show was what she enjoyed. This experience led her to apply for tv and film producing positions. She was eventually hired as Assistant to the Producer by a Los Angeles film producer.
