Felipe's Story

Life After I graduated High School I joined the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. I was sent to the Naval Hospital Charleston. I got out of the Navy in 2000, after living in Charleston for three years I decided that I wanted to stay. I got a job as a bartender while I decided what I wanted to do. After a year of bartending I got a job at a local hospital as an Anesthesia Technician. In 2002 I decided that I wanted to explore a little more so I moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma. I had a hard time finding a job there so I went back to bartending. I worked at a Country Club for the summer, then ...Expand for more
decided that I missed Charleston. I moved back, got my old job back, something about Charleston. About six months ago I was looking through the classifieds, and found my current job. I work for an Organ Procurement Organization. I coordinate the Operating Room and make sure that the organs get to where they are suppose to go. I also spend many hours on the phone with other centers that have organs for people on the Transplant List in South Carolina. I fly around with the surgeons to get organs in and around South carolina. It is a job I could see myself doing for many years to come.
