Forrest's Story
Dec 2009
Well, here we are... almost ready to usher in another decade. Where has all the time gone? I hope that the New Year brings health and prosperity into your life and the lives of those around you.
2009 has been a heck of a year. The Raleigh office where I've worked for the past 6 years closed and my job was transferred to Indianapolis, IN. My wife, Sharon, and I are currently in the process of relocating there. We had two new grand babies brought into the world in 2009, bringing the family total to six grandkids. Our youngest daughter, Karilyn, moved out on her own and started college, so we officially became "empty nesters".
It looks like the New Year is going to bring a very new and different life. We're looking forward to the changes with both optimism and a twinge of sadness. Oh well, nothing is certain except change.

Everybody always wants to know what you've been up to since high school , so here's a brief synopsis of my life for the past 30+ years.
After FHS, I did a year of technical college for electronic engineering before switching over to mechanical engineering. Since then, I've put together an decent resume as a development engineer, primarily in the...Expand for more
field of plastics, spending several years as the sole engineer for a custom plastic molding operation before moving on to designing and developing sport cleats, electronic connectors, and, most recently, industrial packaging.
Since leaving FHS, I've managed to accumulate a loving wife of 25 years, four children, and six grandchildren. In that time, I've relocated my family twice (soon to be thrice); first from NH to central Pennsylvania about 12 years ago, then from PA to Raleigh, North Carolina about 6 years ago, and now we're headed to Indianapolis, IN for the next chapter in our life's adventure.
My wife and I are still avid motorcyclists. I'm still riding the Honda VTX 1800 (the Beastie) and my wife has a Harley 883 Sportster. This year, though, the bikes have had to share garage space with our new two-seater, a Pontiac Solstice convertible that my kids claim is my 'mid-life crisis". I looked at it this way: I needed a new car, the kids are all grown and gone, it's just my wife and me, so why not get something fun. Who says you have to be practical all the time?
That's enough about me for now. If you want to chat, e-mail me at fburney1 at nc.rr.com.
Or.... look me up on "FaceBook".
Warmest regards,
Forrest
