Forrest's Story

Hello Classmates, Forty- three years after graduation here I am, still in the Springfield area. Go figure, why is it that most people rarely ever leave their hometown? I live in Tremont City which is just down the road from Springfield by about six miles. I grew up in the south end of Springfield at 1511 Woodward Ave. and attended Highlands Elementary School, Hayward Junior High School and Springfield South High School graduating in 1969. I had many friends during my school days and have thought about them often which is why I'm here on Memory Lane hoping to get reaquainted with as many of them as possible. You can also find me on Facebook too. I enlisted in the Air National Guard while still a senior in high school and left for basic training soon after graduating. I served our country from 1970-1976 in the 178th Tactical Fighter Squadron and receiving am honorable discharge attaining Staff Sargent rank. During my senior year I became very good friends with Kathy Downing and she got me a job working at the Sillouette Restrauant (in the Park Shopping Center) as a dishwasher. After graduatiion I went to work at the P.A.Hinson Company as a mechanic helper and II ...Expand for more
hired to go to work at International Harvester/Navistar in November 1970 retiring in 2003. Since retirement I have done many things very worthwhile things with my life. I worked 4 years as a caregiver for mentally challenged adults through the state of Ohio. I was diagnosed in 1984 with Crohns Disease and suffered with this disease and between 2003 and June 2012 I have has 19 major .surgeries. I became a Christian in 1980 and serve as an Elder at CrossPointe Community Church Springfield, Ohio. I am a licensed, ordained minister in the state of Ohio and I have my own 501 c 3 non-profit faith-based outreach ministry. I teach inside Madison Correctional Institute. God is using me to help inmates life skill about making positive choices in their lives.
