Frances's Story

Life My dad, mom, brother and I arrived in Canada, from Italy, in 1952. We have lived in Wpg., the whole time. I had a very happy childhood and teenage years. I went a little crazy from the ages of 17- 22, but, I have no regrets. It made me the person I am today. I met my husband when I was 24, got married at 32 and had a child at 35 but, that's how my life is and I wouldn't change it. I was not ready for any committments earlier in my life. My husband is a fun guy who loves to cook, and my son makes me proud and happy everyday. He is truly a nice young man, and got married to his soul mate, Sandra, in 2016. I am happy, and still have alot of fun living my life. I also have been a licensed Marriage Commisioner for 5 years now. It is great performing the ceremonies and meeting all the nice people I have "married". I am semi retired, working 3 days a week. My mom passed in '02 and my dad in 2018 at 101 years old. My son and I traveled to northeastern Italy and Slovenia, in May of 2019, to scatter some of my dad's ashes there. It was a wondrrful trip, and so nice to reconnect with cousins in both countries. I love to read, go to movies (spooky ones), walk, bake, listen to music (all kinds) and spend time with friends. ...Expand for more
I have alot of very good memories of my school years, other students and teachers. School I quit school after grade 10 and went back a year later, but, I dropped out never finishing grade 11. I was too interested in socializing and partying than learning and studying at that time in my life. I had 2 teachers that stand out for me. One was my old homeroom teacher grade 9 (I believe) and that was Mr. Gaston. He was such a nice man. I had an English teacher who made Shakespear fun! I can't remember his name anymore, but, he was fairly young. I now wish I would have stuck it out and graduated with my friends. I travelled and had some real scum jobs along the way... I eventually smartened up, got my GED. I was lucky enough to get a job at a day care...which I never thought was where I would end up. I then went to R.R.C. and got my qualifications for a E.C.E., then took U of M courses for directors. I love it, or I wouldn't still be in the field after 46 years! The scum jobs made me appreciate what I had! If anyone has a connection to where I could get my hands on Gordon Bell year books, please inbox me. I lost mine over the years and would love to get copies. I'll have to figure out what years I want. Thank you all!
