More about Frances:"I enjoy life outside a small Southern town near Raleigh, NC where I grew up, lol. I know that is almost unthinkable these days of mass relocations, etc. I have 3 children (2 girls and a boy) and 2 step children (2 girls) from 2 marriages. I have a very good relationship with not only my children but with my step children as well even though I am divorced from their father. I have always loved children whether mine or someone else's. All of mine are grown but the baby who is 26 and she is the joy of my life these days. :) As for the marriages, letâs say....... I made poor choices; a mistake I hope never to make again. I was very sorrowful when my last husband left me. I really tried and prayed to be a good wife to no avail with both marriages ;( As they say, you cannot make a silk purse out of a sowâs ear (regarding the marriage, not specifically directed at my two ex-husbands).
I have been active in arts and crafts since I was 4 years old. That is when my mother taught me to knit. Presently I bead, crochet, weave baskets, paint on canvas, decorate and do decorative painting, cross stitch, needlepoint, and do crewel among other things like make soap and bath products. I make a living painting and selling furniture and antiques. Terry, my business partner, and I own a small furniture store downtown Wendell, Red Door Furniture and Décor. I am a recognized stained glass artist in eastern NC; however, I have no time to pursue this anymore. I love to garden, even though my garden does not always look at it. Gardening gives me a lot of peace and a connection to the earth and my spirituality. Yes, I do believe in God. Cooking is anot...Expand for more
her one of my favorite things to do and I am a very good cook. It is so easy to cook for those who love to eat good food. As for music, I love the blues, jazz, R&B, Latin, rock and roll, bluegrass, folk and swing. I was the director of the local folk arts festival for 8 or 9 years and I received the most active Chamber member award. I also received the Libby Peebles and Mona Dean award in the Junior Woman's Club. I was the founder of and producer for 2 years for the Triangle East Players, a regional theater group. I was a Girl Scout Troop leader for seven years, the director of the Children's Summer Program Play for a year, and very active in various other children's activities in the community from cheer leading to secret Santa. You see, I have been seriously involved with the growth and development of my community. I was two yr. Chat Host on AOL in food, garden and crafts. I love all people; differences are what makes us special. I enjoy chatting online, especially with those I have something in common. In Garden Chat, we have had several meets, all over the county. I have attended 3 or 4 of them and thoroughly enjoyed them. Chris Brancheau came to me about starting an alternative church, Magnolia Cowboy Church, a member of the Southern Baptist Community. We met at the farm for over 10 years before the minister and board members decided to move to a more visible location in Wendell.
In years past, I thought I was superwoman. I ran a real estate business for 10 years (brought home the bacon and cooked it too), was active in the community, looked after the children and did all the house and yard work. I did it all, lol. One day not long ago, I "woke up" and realized I needed to slow down and smell the roses before they fade. I have slowed down a bit to enjoy all "my childrenâ, my life and my spirituality.
I love traveling, seeing different places and cultures. I have been to Europe several times, to Hawaii, on a cruise, and to almost every state in the union. I do not think twice about jumping in the car and going somewhere......even several states away. Curiosity, a good sense of direction and flexibility make good traveling companions. :) The beach is my very favorite place, but I love the mountains. I attended college in the mountains of Virginia at a woman's college. I like to read and I have written a bit of poetry. In fact, I have has one poem published as a result of a poetry contest online.".
I regret I have not kept up better with my class mates, but I am always thrilled to see any of them. I loved them all and still do.
