Francine's Story
My high school days were a really mixed up time for me. I was a sick teenager with lots of female problems. I spent weeks in bed with my feet up to slow my hemorrhaging. And on top of that there was the introduction of marijuana into my life. In spite of all that, i was blessed with wonderful friendships and music and drama to keep me in school ar least part time. As soon as i graduated i had my first major surgery. Then again in 1974 so i was unable to have children. But God was good to me and instead gave me a wonderful exciting career in the entertainment industry. I went to LACC and learned i had a flair for writing. So i soon was writing for the Jewish Community Bulletin and Israel Today and the Los Angeles Times. . I did radio and became a Motion Picture Academy accredited film critic for the Israel today TV hour. I traveled to Japan and worked there, playing piano and singing as well as teaching English conversation for 3 years. Upon return i moved to Palm Springs and played almost every lounge, restaurant , bar and country club in the 15 years following. In the late 80's and early 90's i worked in Norway and Sweden, and the Princess cruise lines. I also played at Harrahs Lake Tahoe. If i hadn't married Jack in 199...Expand for more
1 i would've toured the world since i had engagements lined up in Germany and The Netherlands. But i did marry Jack and it's been 27 marvelous year so far.. When i decided i'd had enough ""selling spirits" i then worked at a Religious science church in the Music Ministry. I also started doing theatre and enjoyed working with names like Barry Williams, Hal Linden and Moses Burke. My last role was Yente in Fiddler. Type-casting! When Jack retired as Captain from Skywest Airlines we moved to Hawaii to do more scuba diving. I'd fallen in love with the sport on our honeymoon and became an instructor. Along wirh Scuba i also became the music and choir director of a Lutheran Church in Kailua Kona, Big Island and taught voice and basic music theory and harmony. We lived in Hawaii 10 years part time and 12 years full time. I worked at that church for 10 years and loved every minute of it. When i turned 65 we decided to move back to America and we've settled in AZ. i still sing and play but now i sell "the Spirit". Its a wonderful life. My physical body is getting older and breaking down with multiple surgeries...i just have lousy bones...but i'm so grateful for all the blessings I have been given. I wouldn't have changed a thing!
