Frank's Story
Life
After Olney High I went to Penn State for four years (Swarthmore center first year) and graduated in 1953 with a BS in Metallurgy. Worked for a year at Lukens Steel, Coatesville, and was drafted into the Army. While in Basic Training at Ft. Monmouth I met Hope and we got engaged before I was sent to Germany. Was based in Heidelberg, only 30 miles from where my Dad was born so got to see the relatives almost every week and brushed up on some German. Hope and I married in 1956, soon after I was discharged and I began Westminster Theological Seminary in the Fall of that year. I had become a Christian in College and wanted to understand my faith better though no calling towards ministry then. hmond, volunteering at a Prison Farm with 1200 men that God called me to full time ministry and I was ordained and sent to two small churches in N. Virginia for a year before going to Brazil. We arrived in Brazil in Language School in 1963 with three children and then went to work with the very poor in the interior of a state on the southern border of the Amazon. Fantastic experience, in church planintg and communiy development - loved the people and the work! Hope and I spent 33 years in Brazil where we raised our five children. Never had a chance to go to an OHS reunion until the 50th when we had returned to the Sates for retirement. Our kids all married but our oldest and we have 6 grandchildren. We live happily in the Atlanta area. Have some great memories of Olney High and remember some great experiences and friends there!
