Frank's Story
Life
Pets: A back lab, a lhasa apso, a blue front amazon parrot, and a ball python that my wife makes me keep in the back room.
My son Trent has kept me busy since 1998. What a great kid. We enjoy similar hobbies. He's been golfing since he could stand and first played 9 holes at a par 3 course when he was 3. He played a couple 18's on our vacation to Maui in 2005. He played and I coached baseball and soccer starting in 2004. We had great success in Little League, winning the league at every level, including a District Championship in which we beat College Glen that Mike Roessler was the President at the time. In the same year, my team won the District All Star tournament, again beating College Glen in the championship game. Good times. I redesigned the RCLL logo and now enjoy seeing it printed on sweatshirts, hats, and all star uniforms.
After ending baseball in 2012 and soccer in 2013, Trent has focused on golf, and now plays for his high school. As a sophomore, he played in the varsity matches and was the 2nd highest scorer. He was able to play in the postseason tournament - a great experience. Now Spring 2015, he's preparing for his Junior season.
Since 2007, we have volunteered with a haunted house, starting with Hagan Haunted Mansion in Rancho Cordova, which a few years ago merged with Heartstoppers Haunted House that is visible off Hwy 50 near Sunrise and Hazel. It's a ton of work to put up and take down, but the interaction with the guests, and working with the staff is a blast and rewarding. we have been the best reviewed haunt in the...Expand for more
area for years, so we're doing something right.
Music: In the late 80's, I lived close to Cal Expo for a while attended many summer concerts. KISS is still my all time favorite. Yes, they're jokesters, but I've seen them many times and they never fail to entertain. Trent even got to see them in Marysville a couple years ago, and we both put makeup on - a 3 and a half foot Gene Simmons was quite a hit. I still enjoy metal more than anything and have delved back into my favorite sub-genre, Bay Area Thrash, and have discovered that there was more than Metallica, Megadeth and my favorite from the underground - Laaz Rockit. I recommend Testament, Forbidden, Vio-lence and Heathen. Intruder from Nashville is great. Aggressive stuff!
I think since I grew up out in the country from 7th grade on, which at times was cool but was for the most part pretty boring, I find that I like to get out of the house on the weekends. It doesn't much matter what we do, just that we do SOMETHING. Expose Trent (and me) to everything at least once, things like the Nascar race at Sonoma. We went to the Scottish Games in Woodland - I'm still nervous about the whole kilt-thing. There's a Buchanan clan. Trent wanted to try snowboarding, so I gave it a shot and was so sore that it was not funny. Anyway, there's a ton of activities to spend time on and I'd like to give them all a shot.
Hello and Thanks to anyone who lasted to the end. I guess if you got this far it wasn't too boring. Peace and health to all. - Frank
