Frank's Story

Life My Spouse I MET ANITA AT LITTON,IN WOODLAND HILLS. I WAS HER SUPERVISOR., now she's MY boss, lol My Pets WE HAD 3 CATS. "GIRLIE" WAS THE OLDEST NAMED BY MY DAUGHTER,SHE WAS 20 YEARS OLD. OUR MALE CAT WAS CALLED "LITTLE MAN", ALTHOUGH HE IS TIPPING THE SCALE AT ABOUT 16 LBS. HE'S THE ORIGINAL "POT BELLIED'CAT. HE WAS 19 YEARS OLD. OUR YOUNG GIRL WAS 6 YEAR OLD. HER NAME IS "ELVIRA". SHE HAS UNIQUE COLORING. IF YOU SCRATCH "MAN'S" BACK THE RIGHT WAY, HE TALKS TO YOU., makes us laugh . My Kids BOTH PHILLIP AND CHRISTINA GRADUATED FROM CANOGA PARK H.S. Christina was majoring to become a Veterinarian. Unfortunately her life was cut short and she was taken from us. She is missed most dearly. We have an empty spot in our hearts. Her illness was mis-diagnosed She was a member of the Masonic organization for young girls, called 'Rainbow Girls". She eventually became her chapter, in Canoga Park, Worthy Advisor ( which is like being president of a club). While going to college, she worked at Magic Mountain. She was there for the Grand Opening of the water park. She then went to work at Universal Studios in a merchandise store in the park. She was also studing sign language, which she was pretty good at. she had a friend that was deaf and they would 'talk'. Phillip stands 6'2". He has a mild case of A.D.D.D., but you wouldn't know if you were to talk with him.He has a keen memory. He can see a movie and a number of years later tell you, in detail, about it. we are always trying to stump one another with trivia questions. He has a girl friend, Lindsay. They are great together . They are planning on getting married, when? He plays on a basketball team for the Special Olympics. At the 2011 Southern California Special Olympics, his team took a bronze in their division.(this was his first year, I told him to practice over the off season to improve). He also bowls in the Winter games. My Job EVERY DAY IS USUALLY DIFFERENT. WE BUILD FIRST ARTICLE UNITS FOR THE GOVERNMENT. ONCE ALL THE 'BUGS' ARE GONE WE THEN SEND THE UNITS UP TO ANOTHER PLANT FOR FUTURE ORDERS. SOMETIMES WE DO OUR OWN DESIGNING.In recent years, due to mergers and down-sizing, I was involved with over=hauling gyros for jets of various types. Workplace I hired in on the ground floor of the Aegis Ships program in 1972. With several diff. contracts that lasted until 1985. During those years I worked my way up to leadman and supervisor. But low times hit and personnel got small. SO I'm back on the floor. I'm now involved in the "Mature Programs O&R", along with 5 other ex-sup's. We're developing a new mod for flight star tracking and location. Some of our units are used on 'Air-Force One". BASEBALL YEARS I played baseball in a fraternity league as a third baseman, we played fast-pitch softball. When I started working I joined the company baseball team that was slow-pitch. I continued to play as a third baseman and made the league ALL-STARS. Then one of the guys on the team also belonged to a BAR LEAGUE. So I joined that team, we were in the "C"devision and it was a winter league. The problem with that league was that we played on cold damp nights when the umpire wouldn't call the game for bad weather. So I came down with a sore throat that slowly became a bad ear infection. Anyway, I was playing ball 3 nights a week and 1day of practice on Saturday mornings. Now playing both fast pitch and slow pitch, I got my timing off at batting. I eventually stayed with just one league, the company league. But in 1985, I hit a ball out into the outfield, as I started to run I heard/felt knee pop. I got up and took three step down the first baseline and down I went . I tried again to get up but could only hobble to first, where I was thrown out with what should have been a two base hit. That was the last time that I ever ran. My knee gives me problems to this day. I do golf but I have to take it easy with my knee. When I went to Pierce College, I rushed and pledged Sigma Delta Fraternity, My pledge name was "Elmer Fudd". Our class started out with 12 and by week two we were down to the six that made ...Expand for more
it through. If you ever saw "Animal House", we were it. I could put a name to every character in that movie. It was the hardest thing that I ever went through, but I wouldn't give it up for a anything. It was a time in my life for making lifelong friends . We still get together annually for a golf tournament weekend and every 5 years we hold our fraternity anniversary gala. Brothers come from whereever they are, just to tip a few and remember the "good ole days". We've lost a few along the way but we remember for them. SCHOOL YEARS I attended St. Thomas, from 1958 to 1961(grades 1 to 4). Sister Desailles was the school principle. Had a close friend named Tony, who was from Spain. He played the accordion, which he would play at the Christmas program. The school was next to Normandy playground, where a lot of us would get involved in their May Day event. We moved during the summer of '61 to the San Fernando Valley. I attended Melvin Ave. Elementary School for the 5th & 6th grades. Here I had a Mrs. Wong for 4th and Mr. Harold Raskin. (which by the way, my son had when he was in the 5th). Though I was there for only 2 years, I made several friends, one of which is a good friend of mine to this date. During these years, President Kennedy was shot, the Beatles came to America. I graduated from Melvin and attended John Sutter Jr. High School, which was a distant walk. But I enjoyed the shops that I took there, wood shop, metal shop, print shop, drafting. I got involved in the drafting area that blossomed into taking architecture and electrical drafting. While at Sutter, I lettered in baseball, football and basketball. A couple of my teachers/coaches I later had in high school. Due to a problem that I had in my 1st year of school, (which when we moved to go to St. Thomas for the 2nd grade, the nuns felt that I was not up to their 'standards, holding me back to repeat the first grade. When I returned for the 8th grade, they advanced me up half a semester, so I was now an 'A8'. So when it was time to graduate from Jr. High, it was in January. I graduated on Friday and the following Monday, I was in high school. (what ,,,no vacation?) I attended Grover Cleveland High School, in Reseda. I set my major as a Mathematics majors, minoring in Spanish and architecture. At first I struggled with the higher maths but soon caught on. When it came time for gym, I got involved in the sports program. I tried out for baseball, but was outplayed by players who had been in little league most of their youth. So I joined the tennis team and played doubles. In the fall I went out for football and made the JV team, as a lineman. I later moved to defense as a linebacker. I eventually lettered in Varsity. When I was in the advance classes for architecture, we were approached by one of the other shop teachers to re-design with complete plans his cabin at Arrowhead. So, we organized ourselves as a 'firm', with each person taking on a different aspect of the project(i.e., framework, interior, foundation, etc.) we got the plans approved by city hall and over the summer he had the cabin done. In the fall he invited our 'firm' up for a weekend. When it was time to graduate, January 1970, we were the last Winter Class to graduate. We were only 263 members, since a lot of our class had elected to either graduate in the earlier June or wait until the later June. Two weeks later I was in class at Pierce Jr. College. Majoring in architecture. But I had classes everyday in all sorts of hours. which made it hard to get a job. I changed my major to computers, then to accounting. I took a break and got a job with a friend of the family, he was a company's Controller. So I got my taste of working in an accounting firm, though I was not actually doing the book keeping, I was sending out to clients records about some of their clients credit reports. I got involved with doing inventory of all the offices assets. It was a learning experience, which I didn't use until years later. But I liked having money in my pocket, so I went to work in the aerospace industry and was there for 39 years.
