re I served from 1968-1991, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. (See Military Background.)
After retiring from the Air Force as Lieutenant Colonel in 1991:
- Then worked at the University of Dayton Research Institute -
Initially I managed projects as a principal investigator at the Crew Systems Ergonomics Information Analysis Center (CSERIAC)(1991-1998) managing human factors, safety, and training-related studies and analyses. In late 1998, I moved on the University of Dayton campus where I continued to manage similar analysis projects. On interesting project was an IDEF analysis of the research flow of the Air Force Research Laboratory's Aerial Vehicle's Directorate. Recommendations that I briefed to the Integrated Product Team resulted in process reorganization and funding to implement the IPT's approved recommendations. After 15 years of work for UDRI, I retired from UDRI in November 2007, and went back to work for Virtual Simulation and Training (VSAT), Inc. in Sep 2008. In that position, I helped develop requirements for the new Air Force Research Altitude Chambers and managed a human factors and training systems team assisting with source selection of the new human Centrifuge at Wright-Patterson AFB, Aeronautical Systems Center's 77 AESG Program Management Office as their Human Factors, Environmental, Safety, Occupational Health (ESOH) and Test & Evaluation Subject Matter Expert coordinator. These systems will replace aged systems at Brooks City-Base, TX and Holloman AFB, NM in the new center for Human Performance research and development in the Dayton,OH area.
As these projects drew to a close, I was the technical coordinator and human factors/training analyst for the KC-46 (new Air Force Aerial Refueling Tanker) Aircrew Training System (ATS), Training System Requirements Analysis (TSRA). This TSRA will be be used as a basis for the RFP for the new tanker's training system. Next working for Virtual Simulation and Training, Inc. we developed a TSRA for the KC-46 Maintenance Training System for the eight primary Air Force Specialty Codes (AFSCs) that will be maintaining the KC-46. This project was finished in August 2011.
