Frank's Story

I've been in local and national television production for quite a while, but back in 1987 - 1988, I took a year off from TV to work for the Reagan White House as the Media Coordinator for a high profile Presidential Commission. One trip into major high level politics and I went from being an ardent "Westchester County Rockefeller Republican" to a proud liberal Democrat. After my stint in DC, and for more than the last two decades, my name has rolled by in the credits of various familiar TV programs. I produced some of the great (and not so great) names in Talk TV including Joan Lunden; Morton Downey Jr; Danny Bonaduce; Charles Perez; Oprah Winfrey; and the ultimate "talker" -- Phil Donahue (for which I received an Emmy Nomination). I've also developed and produced various TV programs for such outlets as NBC Entertainment, PAX TV, Tribune Entertainment, Westinghouse Broadcasting, Universal, Discovery Channel, History, TLC and Court TV. Even though I am called a producer, I am more of a Writer / Development person -- for reality TV and even a few SyFy movies -- and at least one died a slow death ratings wise! My work had me living all over the USA ... DC, Chicago, Miami, NYC, LA (of course), Atlanta. Las Vegas and San Francisco. I settled down in Southern California (West Hollywood) in 1993 and traveled from there. I also worked overseas in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (it sucked), Hong Kong and Paris (that did NOT suck).. In late 2005, I was named Programming Director and General Manager of Q Network Television, one of the three Gay TV networks in North America at the...Expand for more
time. For the last decade I have been working in TV Development. and had a couple of shows hit cable. I do consider myself a "native Californian who happened to be born in New Rochelle" but I am now a tried-and-true proud resident of LA. I've been living in the same place for 23 years! I still have my old 1978 MGB convertible for fun. Yes, it's sunny here some 300 plus days of the year, so having a little ragtop to tool around in should be required equipment for every Southern Californian -- except toom much and you get nose skin cancer! I've had that car for more than 25 years now, and I even had it shipped to Chicago the last time I was working there! On a highly personal note, my 15 year relationship ended with the loss of my James back in May of 2007. Hearing that kind of news takes a while to adjust to -- even simple phrasing changes like remembering "we" now has to become "me" -- Yeah, it also made me feel empty and alone, but then I remembered what a great collection of real friends I had around me. I think the only thing I truly miss about New Rochelle is easy access to "Greasy Nick's" for hamburgers and steamers! Although lately I have been laughing at the "cleverly hidden" news and legal reports of the Christian Brothers pedo sex scandal that repeatedly mentions Blessed Sacrament HS during the time we were all going there.... Yeah it happened! Go check it out on line by searching this Christian Brothers Sex Scandal / Blessed Sacrament High School -- this pops up.
