Life After High School, I spent 2 and 1/2 years at UW-Milwaukee but couldn't decide on a major. I got into the work force for a short time as a welder and travel agent. I got married in Jan, 1973. Enlisted in the Air Force in Jan, 1974. Went to Lackland AFB in Texas for basic and Chanute AFB in Illinois for tech school. My first assignment was Vance AFB in Enid, OK where I taught pilots to fly using only the instruments inside the aircraft. At this point I also realised they were making a lot more money than I was so I completed an Associtates Degree in Applied Science and a BS Degree in Business Administration at Philips University. I then got commissioned as an officer in the Air Force. I had to go back to Lackland AFB again for basic but this time as an officer. Then I went to Mather AFB in Sacramento, CA to Navigator and Electronic Warfare School for about a year, then to Castle AFB, CA to be trained in the B-52 aircraft. My first assignment as an officer in B-52's was Grand Forks AFB, ND. I spent 3 and 1/2 years there and got to fly over Alaska and the pole while testing equipment, got to Andersen AFB in Guam twice as well as Darwin, Australia. Then I was reassigned to Castle AFB, near Merced , CA as an instructor teaching all of the new B-52 Electronic Warfare Officers in the Air Force. While there I completed work for a Master's Degree in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. After the three years in California again the Air Force sent me to Germany in 1987.
