Franklyn's Story
Life
Retired from teaching in 1995 and now living again in Alexandria. BA from King College in 1963, M.Ed. from G.Mason U. in 1975. Peace Corps Nigeria, 1966-68, Teacher Exchange in England, 1982, history teacher Fairfax County 1969-95. Currently involved in: my little antique business (F.D.R.'s "Old Deals", volunteer work, and travel, esp. along the Lewis and Clark Trail. Recently became president of Francis C. Hammmond High School Alumni Association and work with the Board. I still love living in the Washington, D.C. area and getting together with my friends for lunch, dinner, etc. I still get together with my Peace Corps friends too and am the correspondent for my group that served two years in Nigeria in the 1960s. Life is good.
Addendum 2011: Life continues to be go...Expand for more
od though I've had a tough year with the loss of my older brother (EP) and sister (Janet) within 3 weeks of each other last September (2010). They were both very special in their own ways and each had a big influence on my youth...of course, there was never a day without them in my life until this past year. I can't believe I turned 70 last August and wonder where all that time has gone and why it has passed all too quickly. I continue to enjoy professional baseball (Nationals. who else?), travel on occasion though my favorite place continues to be Alexandria, some volunteer work helping old(er) folks, and work with my groups from the past. At this stage of my life I feel I should sit down and write a book that focuses on all the good things that have happened in my life.
