Fred's Story

Life After high school I didn't know what hell I wanted to do so I went to business courses at SPJC ... when I looked around at all the other wannabe business people, I ducked out. Went into broadcasting, no, that isn't a competition seeing how far you can toss a chick, TV ... Television Broadcasting. Well the years to follow proved to be as boring as watching paint dry and I got out of that. Next was a trip down the medical profession. I became an ambulance attendant in the early 70's and ended up as one of Pinellas County's first paramedics. That was cool . . . until they invented AIDS. Well being as how I have the "watch out for #1" viewpoint and wasn't about to catch AIDS from some bleeding scumball who couldn't drive or was spewing barf from a drug overdose or bleeding from a drug deal gone bad, it was on to other ventures and adventures. I worked for Pinellas county for a while and that was no brainer work. You had to wor...Expand for more
k at getting fired if you wanted to be fired. WE always called ourselves the "unemployables" as we ended up working in the governement. I had a hobby of Civil War reenacting at this time. This lead me down the path to the motion picture industry. My first movie was North and South Book 2 in 1985 (filming year) which was released in 1986. Then there was Glory in 1989, The Alamo, Parenthood, Days of Thunder, My Girl, and a number of other motion pictures that were filming in Florida, Georgia, Virginia and Texas. I met a number of big name celebrities, but ... they are just people. Morgan Freeman, Matthew Broderick, Liz Taylor, Kirstie Ally, Gennie Francis, Hal Holbrook, Cary Elwes and Micheal Dudikoff (American Ninja). After the movie thing, I just decided it was time to call it quits and settled down to a house and home and family. As soon as I can get the hell out of St. Petersburg and out of Florida ... I AM! I hate this place!
