Fred's Story

Life Since I graduated I have been playing in a rock band in Va, Vermont, Greenville,S.C., and Atlanta,Ga. It's been a wonderful journey! Have grown my hair down to my ass! Have traveled up and down the east coast. I still play guitar, but mainly have been a singer for the past 15 years. No I never got signed, but came close a few times. I know we have lost a few classmates lately, they have passed away. I must say that I miss those days. Had a ot of good times even though I wasn't in the "in" crowd. Rock and roll gave me that. Made a lot of friends, (mainly female) on the road. I have a lot of good stories to tell and not enough space in this segment. However, I have to give much thanks to those who helped me along the way. For example, Jim Butt, my neighbor and childhood friend who talked me into buying my first guitar. Fred Rains, for having the patience, devotion, and kindness to teach me many songs during High School. Darrell Mann, for inspiring me to reach for the stars and the many years we played in a band together locally and has been a life long friend. Andrew McNeely, for being a dear friend, band mate, and the closest person to being a brother to me. Chip Janousek, for being a dear friend, drummer, bandmate, and constant support. Dave Swann, band mate, and supporter of my dreams for over a decade.Greg Atkins, drummer and bandmate, just a real nice down to earth person. Chris husted, who helped me develop a tough skin for the business, band mate in many projects, my brotha! Harry Welch, one of the funniest guys I have ever played in a band with. Joe Klaugh, drummer and band mate of Bad Boyz. The late, great Jerry Mann whom I will never forget. We almost had it all. The guys in Impact of Burlington, Vermont, keep rockin boys. Randy Haney, of Greenville, S.C. band mate of Bad Intent, we had some exceptional times. Tom Young,...Expand for more
Danny Guffy, John Skeen, Terry Gillespie, Mike Hopkins, Jackyl, and Christina Emory for getting me to move to Greenville and introducing me to some of the nicest, supportive people I have ever known. Max Held, Joe Vila, and Paul Bilek, for the many years in Atlanta and the Tounge-N-Groove years. My fans and other friends who encouraged me to continue on when I things got tough. Finally, all of the women throughout my life who's hearts I may have broken and even those that broke mine. I have and always will remember those days as the best times of my life. Ther is nothing better than standing on a stage with a sea of people standing in front of you cheering you on. What a rush!!! I have been married twice. My first marriage we had a daughter. Now I have 2 granddaughters. I met my current wife in Atlanta and we reside in Acworth. I have my own business doing interior trim in multi-million dollar homes. We do not have any children by my second marriage. I found myself through music and I have no regrets. I compete in USTA tennis to stay in shape. My father is gravely ill and I don't think he has much time left with us. I treat each day like it is my last! Sadly I lost my Dad on July 18th,2005. He fought the battle for 10 years. I was with him when he died and I must say that was the hardest thing I have ever had to do! It has changed who I use to be. My favorite time of the year is Christmas. My favorite drink is a Bahama Momma. My favorite place is the tropics. I love the beach and the water. Yes I think about all the good times I had in High School and if I could I would go back to those days. I never knew how much I had it made then. Times were simple and care free. The world is a different place now. No more peace and love. Please feel free to contact me anytime on the message board. Peace and Love to all. Freddie Hicks
