Fred's Story

Let's see? A short story? Let's start with wife number 1, that would be Karen Norman LVHS '69, whom I married after getting out of the Navy. With the Nam war going on, I joined the Navy hoping to become a gunners mate operating one of those 50 cal. machine guns on riverboat patrol. Since my WW II vet dad said, why wait for the draft you bum, join something you hippie! Turns out while in boot camp the Navy doctors found a bone tumor in my left knee. And after having surgery to remove it,I wasn't much use to the Navy anymore, so they sent me home with an Honorable Discharge.I guess as the Viet Nam War turned out, this must have saved my life. As history would prove it, others weren't so lucky as me. Karen and I were married for 9 years, we had two children, Fred Jr. now 40 and Krista now 35, both were LVHS grads also. We now have 4 grandkids together from that marriage. Karen and I divorced in 78 or was it 79? and we are still good friends today. I married wife number 2, Gail a cocktail waitress . This one lasted 18 years and we had 3 daughters, all grown up now of course. From that marriage I had another 4 grandkids now for a total of 8. My oldest grandson Justin 20, graduated high school two years ago, and my youngest grandson Neves is now only 2 yrs.old. After Gail and I divorced I moved to Rio Rancho, New Mexico to work with an Indian Casino, "Dancing With The Wolves" as their marketing director. While there, I met my 3rd wife, a 38 year old secretary who lived next door to my apartment. She tried to kill me I think, because on Feb.21, 2000 I survived my first open heart surgery. I later moved back to Vegas to be closer to my family. I bought a little 1 acre mini ranch that I called the "PINEDAROSA" in Pahrump and lived there for 5 years commuting to Vegas everyday to work. Wife number 3 decided to go on a mission for some cult or someting and I never saw her again. We divorced after only 3 years of marriage. I met wife number 4, three years later. We were married 3 years and divorced, but we too are still good friends. So, now I'm happily single again, I own my home and live in Las Vegas again. All my kids are grown, I love spending time with my grandk...Expand for more
ids and my two dogs Elie Mae and Gizmo. I spend as much time as possible in the mountains of Utah riding my ATV in search of BIGFOOT, because I know he's there. I have been writing a humerous autobiography of my crazy life and have most recently been notified that a publisher is interested. They even thought that it might also make a good movie. Kind of a combination of several movies,"Forrest Gump", "Hollywood Nights" and "American Graffiti". Most of my spare time is usually spent with my son Fred Kiser Jr. who races at the local NASCAR track called the Bullring. My grandson Justin Kiser also races, and another grandson Jason will be racing next year. They are both following in my footsteps, since me and another LVHS alumi and best friend Jeff Harmon did a little racing at the old Craig Road Speedway back in the 70's. It might be possible that I will race again soon if my son Fred Jr. can build a car quick enough. I have been in the gaming business for most of my adult life. I was a marketing executive with Steve Wynn's Golden Nugget and worked on the early plans for the Mirage development. I left the Golden Nugget in 1988 to open the original Arizona Charlie's Casino on Decatur. I'm presently the Marketing Director for Becker Gaming and also manager of one of the Becker Gaming bars called, Charlie's Saloon in Las Vegas located at 4420 S. Durango. So if you are LVHS alumi, come by and see me. And if you are one of my old girl friends, the drinks are always FREE!.... Just kidding, I would love to invite any and all LVHS Alumi to stop by the bar to talk about old times. I have a slogan that I used at Cabo Charlie's Bar and I think it sums up my feelings about life so far. " I'm not here for a long time...I'm just here for a good time" And so far it's working.... Since I wrote this, I had my second open heart surgery to replace the Aortic Valve in March 2010. I recoverd very fast and the doctor said that I'll be around for many laps to come, my racing days may not be over yet! I'm feeling great, and work out everyday to stay fit. I have recently purchased a bike, and really enjoy riding it. No... I'm not a "Wild Hog", but I guess I'm still a little WILD!
