Fred's Story

I got my undergraduate degree in Psychology from UCF. Was in a University of South Florida graduate program and got my master's degree in Psychology but left before doing my doctoral dissertation. I taught psychology classes at USF for 4 years, worked at Florida Mental Health Institute where I met my wife, who was a nurse. She passed away in 2021, leaving a big hole in the lives of those of us who loved her. In 1980 we moved to California after she joined the Air Force. In California I got an additional degree in computer programming. I became a programmer for environmental company where I could put my research and statistical knowledge to good use. I worked on massive environmental impact statements for Air Force Peacekeeper and Small Missile programs. I later worked on computerized economic modeling for RDN Inc., one of the leading southern California economic consulting firms. I worked on economic impact reports for the Base Realignment and Closure Commission that determined which US military bases to close. I was also my office's IT person. I developed database software to do automated data validation of the chemical data associated with groundwater contamination and site remediati...Expand for more
on. I retired in 2016 and love being free to control my own time and travel whenever I want. My wife and I had a daughter who is now a Broker’s Assistant and new broker transition specialist for Morgan Stanley. She lives in San Diego CA. We also have a foster daughter who is now an adult. She is an artist and is selling her paintings. She is married to a guy in Army Special Forces and lives in Fayetteville NC She now has 3-year-old twin girls. I ride a 2005 Softail Deluxe Harley Davidson motorcycle, and I still have the 1962 Volvo I drove in High School. I am about 80% done restoring the 1962 Volvo. Working on old cars is one of my hobbies. I have a private pilot's license and I owned a small airplane for a number of years. I still have many friends and family in Florida, and I try to visit a couple times a year. My wife passed away in 2021 from a genetic condition that weakened her aorta. I am now trying to figure out what to do with the rest of my life. Fortunately, my financial situation is strong, so I have many good options, including traveling around the world. I am considering moving back to Florida. I am just struggling with being alone for the first time since I finished college.

My father about the time I was born. We shared a love of mechanical things, cars, boats, airplanes.
The rule of law and the courts grind on and do their jobs no matter how much spin and conspiracy theory you throw at them. Chanting “Lock her up” doesn’t make anyone guilty, and calling a criminal investigation a “Witch-hun
Would love to have the hair and eyes back.
The women decided to buy colorful wigs to party in the Bahamas.
Waking up in Utah in 60 degree weather is great.
People need to vote in order to help make the country reflect everyone’s values.
I want to give a shout out to see the movie “The Greatest Showman”. If you haven’t seen it, it is the story of P.T. Barnum as he comes to respect and support the incredible diversity of his circus cast. This screen shot is
We went to a James Ramos fundraiser last night. He is running for state Assembly in our district. From humble beginnings he has made himself into a successful businessman and he has given back so much to the local community.
Moose tracks and Huckleberry ice cream!
We are home from our “keep cool in August” trip up to Yellowstone and down the west coast. We drove over the Golden Gate Bridge on our way down the coast.
We went to an art glass exhibit by Chihuly under the Seattle space needle. What looks like flowers is blown glass.
It is still fun to be up in a tree even if it involves trimming.
Walking around Skycraft with my old friend Tom.

It was a rare rainy day in south California, which makes for a great sunset.
I have been manufacturing some missing parts for the old Volvo. I was missing one horn bracket, so I copied the one I had. The coil mount seal was cracking after 50+ years, so I cut a new one out of sheet rubber.
I was cleaning parts today. I removed heavily scratched paint and rust from this pipe using a rotary wire brush in a drill. It took about 20 minutes. It turned out so shiny! The car is pre smog control and this is the crank
We joined the Riverside march today. I don't want to ban all guns, but we need common sense controls like universal background checks.
We went to Balboa Park in San Diego on Easter Day. Our daughter lives right across from the park.
