Fred's Story
Life
My life on motorcycles have passed. The last motorcycle I had I sold 35 years ago, when my wife and I needed a washing machine.
Coming out of high school, I joined the Navy, got married, and disappeared from Salinas. Mostly, I had been in Washington state. Life has been good. I am still married, with 2 children, and have 3 1/2 grand children. Great life!
I still don't drink and I never smoked. Have seen many places in Asia, Europe, Africa, South America, and Australia. Enjoyed meeting so many different people!\
School
The teacher that inspired me most is Mr. Sloan. Loved his idea of reading Winnie the Pooh in English Lit. Really enjoyed the moment...this from a person never exposed to Tigger and Piglet until that moment.
I did enjoy high school. I know I was one of the very silent majority, but it was cool. I hated book reports.....Expand for more
.enjoyed reading. (I still do!)
Workplace
Flipping burgers? No. I picked strawberries and harvested lettuce while in school, but I passed the flipping burgers stage.
I am currently a senior aircraft maintenance training instructor/developer for the Boeing Company. Been on this gig for the past 18 years. I have taught over 3,000 airplane mechanics, engineers and pilots. Have seen the rest of the world I didn't see while I was in the Navy. Most interesting have been in teaching classes in China. My wife and I have enjoyed being in places like Taiyuan and Haikou. Besides China, our favorite place: Fiji, with Venice a distant second.
I am in the process of developing training materials for the new Boeing jet, the 787 Dreamliner. By 2008, hopefully, we will get to see the more of the world , teaching airlines that will have this new jet...
