Fred's Story

I joined the Navy in 1958, and came home in March of 1960 and married classmate Bette Mercer. Came to CT. to go to Submarine School while Bette completed Nursing School in Lansing. Spent a year in Key West, Florida aboard a submarine and then moved to CT to attend Naval Nuclear Power School. Spent six years as a Nuclear Reactor Operator aboard USS George Washington. d at a Nuclear Power Plant in CT for 28 years as a Instrument Specialist, Instrumentation Supervisor and a Senior Nuclear Safety Engineering Specialist. (After retirement, worked 5 more years as a contractor at the same plant) Bette and I had 3 Children, (2 girls and 1 boy), 12 Grandchildren, and 10 Great-Grandchildren. We are enjoying our retirement and make trips to visit the kids in PA, DE, VA, and TN.
