Fred's Story
Quit teaching a long time ago. The problem with teaching high school kids is that you can't hit 'em and sometimes you can't NOT hit 'em. I work for Cabela's in Prairie du Chien, WI and I write--speculative fiction, literary fiction, poetry, etc. I even get published once in a while.
Been married since 1976, three kids, 8 grandkids plus 3 step-grandkids....all but 3 of the eleven are girls.
My wife. Verlene, passed away 1/29/23 after 4 months in home Hospice due to several organ failures.
I've kept in touch with Brenda Cutler all these years. Her husband was best man at my wedding.
Steve Grabowski (class of '69) and Janet Washburn (class of '70) got in touch with me on Facebook. Janet has read all four of my books, and likes them. Brenda's husband, Bob, likes them too.
ATTENTION! ATTENTION! Have I got your attention? Good. Thank you. My fantasy novel, PROPHECY OF HONOR, published by Double Dragon Publishing, available in all e-book formats and print-on-demand paperback is available through Amazon. I think it's pretty good. (surprise)
My second fantasy novel, titled WITCHERY, was published by Double Dragon Publishing. at the end of September, 2016. It received a 5-star rating by Red Headed Book Lover. And my third book, a Romance/thriller, JUST LUCKY, BOOK ONE: FRIENDS AND ENEMIES was launched in October, 2016. BOOK 2 is now published and available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and others. Much of the Just Lucky story takes place in 1969-1972 at UNC in Greeley. ...Expand for more
Book 1 has received two excellent reviews. You can see them if you go to my Facebook page and scroll down a ways. One of those is by a cyber acquaintance--a teacher in Hawaii. Here's his short review of Book 1:
I read between 10-20 books each year, and if this non-fiction/history/biography guy reads fiction at all, it's usually from the "classics" or "literature" list in my head. Until now!
Finished Just Lucky and totally dug it! A great read, Fred! Well done! I look forward to catching Bk 2 this summer.
And I'll keep them displayed prominently around the house so I can point them out to visitors and crow, "You want an entertaining read? Try these! Great characters exercising traditional themes with lots of action...yeah, I know the author, too. Great guy! And a Bronco fan!"
I've finished a Paranormal Romance/thriller titled SAVING ATLANTIS, but it hasn't found a home yet.
YOU'RE INVITED to visit my website, which is the 3 "w"s dot fgwaiss dot com. Besides a blog and The Mascot Serial. there's a list of my published writing and a soon-to-be functional link to most of it. I hope curiosity at least will persuade you to drop by.
If anyone would like a signed paperback copy of any of those books, email me through Classmates or contact me through my website. I can save you a little on the Amazon price.
I'm sorry I can't make it to the reunion. We took a trip to Utah for my granddaughter's graduation, and then to Denver to see our son and his kids. So we're tapped out.
