Life In 75' my family moved to Westerville and I graduated from Westerville North High School in 1977. It was a brand new school so we were the first graduating class. I was fortunate enough to make some good friends there that I stay in touch with even today. That area has grown so much since I lived there. After graduation I went in to the Air Force. I was trained in electronics and stationed at Beale Air Force Base, about 15 miles north of Sacramento, California. Occasionally, I'd be sent to Asia and Europe for a few months at a time. I really enjoyed my time in other countries and did as much sight seeing as I could. The job I had in the AF was great but I did not want to make it a career. So I did my four years and got out. I started working for a company in Silicon Valley(Palo Alto), called Coherent Inc. They make all types of laser systems and accessories for all types of applications. I started as a technician and went to school at night to get my degree. By 1994 I was working as an engineer and volunteered to go to Japan to help start their direct office in Tokyo. I had already been working with our Japanese partners and had made a few visits there so I had an idea of what I was getting in to. My wife Ann, quit her job as a manager at a small Bay Area software company and put all of her efforts in to being a "Japanese housewife".
