Fred's Story

Some factoids, hmm, ok I am extremely grateful for my Blessings, for my family, loved ones, friends and being fortunate enough to have been born into this country and to have been raised and able to live in Nevada. I love wild remote places and it has made me appreciate what freedom really is. Wow how lucky can a guy be. Ely, like Tonopah was a great place to raise a family and go to school. You cannot get that kind of unique quality experience in the big cities where life if so synthetic and contrived, etc.. Ely is even further from everything than Tonopah is, ha. I know there is a God, he is our father and he has a wonderful plan for us, knowing it has made my life complete and full of purpose and satisfaction. I am a die hard Conservative, my two favorite bumper stickers on my vehicles have been and are "Liberals, the Root of All Evil", and "Political Correctness is Intellectual Fascism My wife Maurine and I have three fantastic children, Becky. (Chad smith), Aaron’, (laura) Jared" ( Katie) From them we have nine grandchildren.: Jacob, Dallin, Braden, Carson, Garrett (all Aaron’s) Kimber, chase (Jared’s). ALeah, blake, (Becky’s). Met my wife Maurine Williamson of Ely in Tonopah. A couple years after I got home from Vietnam. After being out of school six years a number of people persuaded me to try to...Expand for more
go to college on the G.I. Bill. Five years later got a BS in range land management minor and wildlife management. Retired after 33 years with BLM. I love Ely and the surrounds. However I have ventured out several times to Alaska Canada and Africa in pursuit of various big game animals but very much enjoying and appreciating the landscapes and the people along the way. I often used to tell my father Fred Senior the best move he ever made for me in my life was moving to Tonopah Nevada. Although initially I felt like I’d been put in a time machine and sent back 100 years. But within a few months I began to assimilate and revel in experiences and people I got to know in school and the community etc. I treasure those experiences. I felt like raising my children in Ely was very similar to what I experienced in Tonopah. Too bad everyone couldn’t have those kinds of experiences. I hope you are all well and escaping the worst of the Covid virus. I just had my Third vaccination no Ill effects and hope it will keep the Delta variant at bay. I remember you all, three or four grades behind and about three ahead of me in high school. Wish we could all spend an afternoon together again someday. Until then best wishes for you all I would love to hear from you on this forum oracle I really need some updating On my classmates.
