Freddie's Story
I started out as an eagle at Allison Street School. I played basketball for them and numerous other playground activities. I remember that all the guys could not wait for it to snow so we could play tackle football on the playground. Some of my fondest memories were there. I can remember Billy Taylor, David Hewitt, David Crocker, Earl Warman, Barry Dillion, Judy Patterson, Vaya Wiseman and Debbie Glisson very clearly and probably others if I thought real hard.
Then we moved to the Junior High. I lived right across the street from there and it was great getting the extra sleep and doing all the science projects in class. This is when I started having problems with some of the teachers and met my best friend Curt Stonecipher. Curt is now a thriving proprietor and owns his own restaurant in Huntsville, Tennessee. If you are ever that way stop in and say hi. It is not far from hwy 27 just off of interstate 75. If you would like to contact him let me know and I will hook you up.
Then we went into high school and I got along with the teachers for the most part. I played a little basketball and football but as you all may know politics was involved so you did what you could. I can clearly remember my friends being Don Gay, Doug Wienheimer, Kelvin Patterson, Scott Harris, Tim Alsip, Dino Gibson, Doug Hayes, Dottie Chin, Rhonda Sester, Shelly Misch Rick Slusher, Dale Johnson, and others to a long list. After Graduating High School I went right to work for General Motors and as much of you know became a head. Ludes, coke, pot. you name it. I lost a lot of respect for that but met a lot of friends as well. Kirk Hershberger was like my body guard for all my dealings.
After an announcement of a long layoff and strike I went through GMI Tech and became a Supervisor at the GM in Norwood, in what was in no doubt the strongest Union in...Expand for more
the automotive field. I got broke in good. Unfortunately the Union was so strong the company could not deal with them and closed the plant down and started building the Camaro's and Firebird's in California and Canada. I transferred to Lakewood Georgia for 3-6 months and then to Tarrytown, New York. I really loved working at both places. Oh by the way I got married during this time at age 25. Let's just say she is my kids mother and I love my kids very much. They are Alex - 22 and Kay 18. Our first child Amber, lived only 6 months due to a chromosome abnormality called trisomy 13. My Kids mother went to school at Wyoming in Ohio but was born and raised in Somerset, KY. I only have a few months of child support left and if any of you have any ideas on clever but not to harsh ways to give her the last CS payment let me know. I then transferred to Alabama to Delphi. They produce mostly anything to do with steering on GM and other manufactures cars. Although I don't like Alabama as well as any of the other aforementioned places I did find the perfect wife here. We never argue and see eye to eye on everything. Neither one of us gets jealous, we attend and are active in church. I have humbled myself to a simple life with less stress from being in management. However I believe the early days of drugs have caught up with me. I have what is called Migratory Sensory neuropathy (a terminal illness), Diabetes, arthritis, rheumatism and with all the medications I have had to take I have got fat. I am however changing my life, exercising more and hope to be a fit Freddie instead of a Fat Freddie and hope to see all of you at the next reunion. I am currently on extended leave due to illness from work. Like I said my wife is a God Send and helping me through everything. I hope to hear from as many of you as possible and may God Bless.
