Frederick's Story
Hi Everyone!
My life story has years of varied experiences. After School I went into the Naval Reserves as a Builder in the SeaBees. Spent a few months in California for training and then went back home where I went to work for a while landscaping. The Boss believed in hand tools which kept me in shape. I then went to Ferris State for 4 years and met several classmates there as well as making new friends. After graduation I ended up with a construction estimating job in Detroit for about a year then took a similar job in Battle Creek for over a year. Things didn't turn out as I planned but ended up becoming a self employed construction contractor for about 7 years and stayed in the Ceresco area. In 97 I got married to a gal from Florida. She had 3 kids and two of them went to Harper Creek while the other was old enough to live on his own in Florida. My business wasn't large enough to support the family so I went to work in Ann Arbor for a while and then near Ft. Wayne Indiana as an estimator.
After 9/11 I volunteered for active duty and went to Greece instead of the original destination "Afganistan". Life was much better since we didn't live in tents and was actually in a Mediteranian Vacation paradise, Crete Greece. ...Expand for more
We worked 6 tens a week, but the time off was great. After going home for 5 Months, I was recalled to mobilize with my reserve unit supposedly to Iraq, but I must have an invisible tie to the birthplace of civilization as I ended up with a detachment back in Greece when Turkey closed their borders to the U.S. The base was totally crowded and different than the last time there.
This time when I came home I took a job as a superintendent in Baltimore Maryland. Awsome place, but very stressful on the road. I had a guy get out of his car and threaten me. Be careful who to toot your horn at in response to their being a butt head. Saw a lot of history and had a lot of fun.
On New Year's Eve, my wife threw me by making a resolution that we would be toasting next year in Florida. As it turned out I took a great job in Orlando building resort townhomes. That was great while it lasted, but when the market hit bottom, I had to find new work. I am now working as a project manager for Williams Scotsman building Modular structures. So far I have been in New Orleans building schools and in Florida building structures for the VA.
Of course there are many stories in between all these events, but I don't have the time to tell all.
