Ok, so I like to write..so this should be a breeze for me right...ummm..well, ok, here goes..This is the whole truth, and nothing but the truth..so help me GOD... All of you knew me as a guy named Gary Marcantonio...well that was not who I really was..I am a woman now..here's my story, well the beginning..best place to start,right? My story starts around 1965, I had a very abusive family. I ran away from home a lot, to get away from my crazy parents. Ok, so I learned a lot about forgiveness .I knew I felt "different" .I was a loner in school, except for marching band. I met some really nice people back then, but I was so self involved on how to stop getting my but whipped every day.So one day in oh 1972, two classmates at Frank H. Morell HS in Irvington approached me, and showed me the front page of the Irvington Herald.. she-( Pauline Allen, and Debbie Cologne, and recognize the address of the story..35 Berkshire Pl. drama unfolds..I lied and said I was sleeping, well I was until the gunshots ran out at 2am. A swat team swathed down upon my house and block...Apparently my father had tried to assassinate my step-father to be...Ok, enough of the sad stuff. So to Pauline and Debbie, and anyone who wanted to know what happened, there's the true story, it's been buggin me for many, many years.Some people say writing it down is therapeutic..well I feel better already. So I get sent to this boarding school in upstate New York, I stayed there for two years, left with what I thought was a GED in my hand-- NOT!! (more on that later). I joined the United States Navy in March of 1977, I stayed in for 3 years an a couple of months. Active drug and alcohol addiction took hold, and reared it's ugly head. I wanted to escape from how I felt about my gender,about my crummy family who abused me, and this whole rotten miserable world, and illusion that was later shattered many years later..1996..The next 19 years were a pure living hell. I became addicted to practically every drug known to mankind. thank goodness I never shot needles..I escaped that even awful horror somehow. finally I hit my first bottom in 1985.
