Gabrielle's Story
It's not much of a story. I got married soon after graduation to Skip Krehbiel, one of the airmen at the base. We had two children, Paula and Gery, then divorced. During our marriage, we bounced around a lot, living in Kansas, Missouri, Arizona, California. On my own, I added Tennessee and Florida before settling down 40 miles south of Gila Bend in Ajo. I've been here since 1980, following my mother as editor of the Ajo Copper News, a job I still hold. I also worked for twenty years on Ajo Ambulance but I'm retired from that now.
I'm currently single, following a brief second marriage in the 1980s.
In November 2007, I discovered a lump during a shower and was soon undergoing a double mastectomy and then chemo to treat a fast-growing breast cancer. Chemo is now done and I'm trying to recov...Expand for more

My daughter Paula has twin daughters, Ashlee & Danielle, who finished high school a year early in 2007. Paula lives in Kansas, which is too far away, but came to live with me for eight months while I went through surgery & chemotherapy for breast cancer. She's back in Kansas now and I miss her.
My son Gery (he prefers that to Gerald Paul Krehbiel III) lives in Mesa and has a daughter Chloe who was born in 2004. He and Chloe's mother are separated but are both active parts of Chloe's life so I get to see her fairly often (but not often enough!).
My father died in 1983 and my mother in 1993. My youngest brother Hop is my partner at the newspaper and our middle brother Joe just moved to Ajo from Alabama for health reasons.
