Gail's Story
Hi, I have two sons and one daughter. I am also a grandmother with two grandsons and one granddaughter. In 1969 I was married, and my first son was born in 1969 My second son was born in 1970. I was married for 8 years. After my divorce I remarried and had my daughter in 1978. My second marriage lasted for three years and since then I have been single. I have had a lot of health problems especially with diabetes, but I am finally controlling it. I have worked as a nurses aid for several years. I also worked at a few hospitals. I am currently enrolled in Elgin Community college for a career change. I am studying for a medical office degree. I am very close to my children. he is home on the week-ends. He wants me to move there. He has two sons. I am thinking about moving, but my daughter and her family live out here in Carol Stream and we are very close. She has one daughter. I go to all my granddaughters games and I am very involved with the family. My oldest son and I live together, he has learning disabilities, but manages very well. He works at a jewel fuel gas station. We help each other out. I grew up in Melrose Park and by the way I do remember Skips drive in. I also remember the Oak Park theater and Russel's bar-b-que. Most of the time I hung out with my cousins Frank, Jeff Lenore Jean Ann, Paul and my sister Patty Caliendo. My father was a strict Italian and we had to stick with family.
