Gail's Story
I've kept very busy since 1974. Graduated from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) in 1978. Married, moved to Dayton, OH in 1980, Worked for NCR, divorced and got my MBA from the University of Dayton in 1982. Moved back to Michigan in 1983 and worked for Burroughs/Unisys. In 1986 married Mark Fialkow and moved to Northern Virginia (near Washington DC). First daughter, Lauren was born in 1989. Tara, second daughter, was born in 1993. Both are graduates of Virginia Tech.
In 1993 I left Unisys and opened my own tax preparation business and I still have a small practice in Florida. I did lots of great volunteer work: PTA President, Girl Scout Leader & GSCNC Fundraising Chair, President & Treasurer for Lake Braddock Athletic Boosters, In 2000, I founded and served as Treasurer for Burke Athletic Club, a local youth sports organization for 17 years. Mid 1996 through mid 1997 took 13 months off, bought a motor home and traveled around the country with our family (home schooled Lauren who was in 2nd grade). Visited 69 National Parks & Monuments as well as 40 states and three Canadian provinces.

ices career in 2002. Opened my own financial planning firm, Pegasus Financial Group, in 2007 from which I retired in 2018.
Mark and I have traveled extensively throughout the US. In December 2010, I traveled to Israel and Egypt (the pyramids are amazing) with Lauren who was in a study abroad program. In April 2011 traveled with Mark & Tara to visit Lauren in Switzerland & Italy while she studied in another overseas program. Since both girls are at VT in Blacksburg, VA, September 2011 we bought a beautiful old 3 bedroom house 2 blocks from campus to stay in when we visit and for the girls to live in for the next few years. In 2014 we traveled to Prague, Czech Republic to visit Tara on her semester abroad. In 2018 Mark and I sold both homes and retired to West Palm Beach, FL. We survived COVID which we finally contracted in May 2022. Spent most of July 2022 in Tanzania, Africa on Safari and hope to travel more in the coming years. We moved to the Raleigh North Carolina area to be nearer Tara in 2024.
My mom, Sandy, passed away in 2019 and sisters, Cathy (BHS 76) & Lisa (BHS 84), both moved to Florida, my brother Vern (BHS 80) lives near Detroit. My best to all at BHS & U of M!
