Gail's Story
Life
I've been living in Oklahoma City and worked at Tinker AFB as an Equal Opportuty Counselor/Lead until December 31, 2007. I retired at that time and have tried to do as little as possible since then!! I enjoyed my Federal career so very much. I worked first in Manpower as a Manpower Specialist, then as a Staffing Personnelist and Lead and then when I moved to OKC, in the EEO Office. I loved EEO the most. During my career, I worked for the Army, Air Force and Defense Logistics Agency. Yes, I do miss working but there are perks to being retired such as sleeping late and getting to spend quality time with my 88 year old Mother who lives here in OKC. There has not been a dull moment in my whole life. I am married for the third time and it seems to be the charm. Carlos and I have been married for 10 years. Carlos works at Tinker as a Logistician for the B-1 Bomber. We have a sweet Pomeranian, Beau, who keeps us busy. My daughter, Becky and her husband live in Oklahoma City and I'm so grateful for that. We do go back to Lubbock to see my cousins and my Aunt and friends. Carlos' two daughters from a former marriage are living in and around San Antonio. One is teaching, married, and a Mom. The youngest is in her third...Expand for more
year of college in San Antonio. It is so hard to make up for 40 plus years, but if you read this-hey, e-mail me and lets catch up for real. Your friend, Gail Buckner Luna--Just a little older and heavier and blonde!!
Ill never forget Trick or Treating with Charlene Smith and a bunch of other kids on 31st Street. We feared nothing in our quest for Halloween Candy. Our Mothers didn't worry about us at all as we literally went to as many houses as we could and stayed out until long after dark. We had such fun!!!
My first job was at TG&Y, where I got paid 50 cents an hour to run the register, measure out candy, dust and restock shelves. What I remember most about it is working with Sandra Sykes and waiting until lunch so I could eat--I was always hungry. I had a crush on the Assistant Manager, Jim Prescott. He was so very nice. His Dad was the manager and he was the best boss in the world. We had such a good time. I remember doing inventory and I just hope I counted everything right. I was boy crazy and who knows if I counted right or not!!.
I love to exercise by doing aerobic dancing--great way to forget everything else. Also, I work once or twice a week out of Paseo Pottery. I love to work with clay and it is a good release.
