Gail's Story
Life
After high school I went into the Navy. After boot camp and Engineman "A" school in Great Lakes, I was sent to Mare Island North of San Francisco for 17 weeks of survival, and language school. I was then assigned as a Naval Advisor on a Vietnamese PCF river boat. When I returned to the States, my assignment was to a new Destroyer Escort out of Norfolk VA. It was at this time that I married my first wife, whom I had met in Engineman "A" school. In 1973 I had applications for local police departments in Illinois, and the Navy let me out of active duty approximately one month early to take the police officer entrance exams. the plumbers union, took the plumbing license test, and started my own business in May 1985. In 1977 my first wife and I were divorced, and in 1978 I met my wife, Erin. We lived together from 1979 until Jan. 15, 1982 when we were married. We now have two beautiful daughters, Katie born May 20, 1983 and Cori born Nov. 26, 1984. Both of my daughters have good jobs and keep talking about going to college part time. (But have not started yet). We own our home in Wheeling, IL and a summer home in central IL. I ride a new Harley, hunt, and fish when possible for relaxation. I am a member of the Moose Lodge, Amvets, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and the Shrine. I have also competed in a precision drill team on my Harley all over the country, winning two international titles and six Great Lakes titles.
