Gail's Story

Shoreline High School brings back memories of playing flute in band, and Mr. Uran the band director, going to football games and winning some sort of football championship our Sr. year. After leaving Shoreline I graduated from SPU with a degree in Nursing. I worked at Harborview for 2 1/2 years in what was then the trauma ICU. I then moved to the east coast so I could travel and see another part of the country. I started out working in the Pediatric ICU at Johns Hopkins Hospital and kept busy with teaching competitive Ice skating in my spare time. I went on to get my MS in trauma critical care nursing at U. of Md. During my time in grad school I met my husband who is from the Baltimore area. Need I say more? A house, a husband and 2 kids later-I am still here. We live in Elkridge, Md. I am still working at Johns Hopkins but my specialty area is now Pediatric Emergency Dept. I am involved in the Emergency Nurses Association and I do a lot of teaching to help other folks become comfortable caring for the ill or injured child. As...Expand for more
a family we love to ski and have a time share in Colorado (the boys both snow board of course!). I have 2 boys 21 and 23. My husband works for the federal goverment and because of his job we enjoyed living in England for 3 yrs when the boys were younger. Greg and I also enjoy sailing and are co-owners of a C & C 44 with his brother. They enjoy racing the boat, I enjoy fun days or weekends away on the boat. Neither of our boys are to keen on sailing. I spent a lot of time in Seattle (Everrett really) this past year as my mother was very ill. She passed away in April at the ripe age of 92. She lived an amazing life. It was really good to reconnect to the things I miss about the Seattle area this past year. I attended a 75th anniverary of the Seattle Skating Club in April. It was amazing and great to see so many old friends. I looked at a few of the folks and thought, boy they are looking old, and then realized: oh yea! I am getting there too!!! My goal is to stay active and to remember you are as young as you feel!!!!
