Garth's Story
I always wanted to be a police officer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a dumb idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. I have had a wonderful career and am currently a police chief at a college in Richmond. I am also an adjunct instructor in their criminal justice program. My children have taught me the importance of love, faith and understanding. Those are essential ingredients to being a good parent. My parents gave me these things.
It took me two marriages to learn that loving someone was not enough in a relationship. True relationships are built on friendship too.
We have a grandson who is less than 2 years old. It seems like yesterday that my 2 sons were that age. He is the apple of my eye!
