Gary's Story
Life
Ok, Ok the "Past" picture of me isn't really me. That's Jo-Jo (Joelle) my oldest granddaughter (Jake's daughter). Isn't she cute. I wish I had room for the other two, but.... The "Now" picture of me is me and David Ketscher in Alaska in May of 06. More about those two things later....
I am now in my mid-50's just like the rest of you. I am surprised at how old I am. I knew in my mind that I would eventually grow older, but I guess I didn't really picture it happening. Now I'm here I am in my mid-50's and I can't hardly believe how old I am.
I have been married (to Ann) for 34 years next Sunday and we have 4 kids ages 22-30 and 3 granddaughters. The granddaughters are the best. My youngest son (Sam) has been married for 5 years and is hasn't had any kids (Jake has 2 and Andrew has 1). I told him and his wife the other day that having kids is optional, but don't miss the grandkids. They are the best thing in life so far.
I still live outside of Reedley, on a farm. We moved in there in 1973, built a new house in 1986, moved, tore down the old house and never changed our address or phone number.
I have been a farmer for over 30 years now and I farm about 200 acres for myself and others. My only crop is Table Grapes. Farming has been a bit slim the last few years so I have started a new career in my late 40's and I...Expand for more
have been a Real Estate agent for over 8 years. I am doing really well and I work for Guarantee Real Estate which is the biggest and best (my opinion) Real Estate company in the area. I placed about at the bottom of the top 25% in sales volume in the company last year, which I think is pretty good.
David Ketscher (also Class of 68) is spending the Summer in Alaska this year and wanted to take a pickup with him so I went along to help with the driving. We drove up and I flew home in May and I will fly back up in August and we will drive home. That way we will get to see the other side of all the hills and trees. I have been to Alaska maybe ten times over the years, and it is my favorite place on Earth. I was there in the Winter once and even that was beautiful. Crisp and clean and clear. You can see 100 miles up there. I love it.
Well, that's about it for now. If you have an interest in contacting me I would like to hear from any of you who would take the time to write. I check my e-mail all day, every day, so drop me a line and say Hi!
Military
I was never in the military. The year I was eligible for the draft my number came up 212, they were only drafting up about 135, and that was that. My Dad was in the Air Force for over 20 years and by the time he retired and moved here when I was 12 I had had enough of military life anyway.
