Gary's Story
After high school I attended college and started playing in several rock bands, and going on club circuts, college became less and less important I sang in one band and mixed the sound for another band. In December of 1984 I met my wife Diane Maese who also graduated from Coronado in 1980, 2 weeks after we met we moved in together 6 months later we got married 24 wonderful years and counting. I worked for the El Paso Times circulation dept in upper management as a District mng, City mng for 16 years in which I took an early retirement. I went back to MY FIRST LOVE AND PASSION MUSIC,I started a rock band (srekcor)that wrote original songs only, we recorde a CD and were negociating a deal with Sony Records. Two weeks later I lost my best friend and guitarist, partner in music, WORDS(me) and MUSIC (rick) since childhood (10yrs old), end of that deal. I was never able to find another musician that I could colaberate with in originals. I began Engineering Concert Sound again and put togeather a casino showband. (Gary and the Jives) I took a partnership and started a production company, as with most partners, the more money we made the worse our partnership got, so I left after 5 years. Eight months later I got my first million dollar loan and started my own production company CHAMELEON CONCERT SERVICES I have also taken on a new partner my protoige two and half years now and growing. What is a Production company you may ask? Well to put it simply, when you go to concert and you see all the speakers flying or ground stacked, all the lights, power stations, mixing desk, lighting desk,trusses, ect all the equipment it take too hear and see a concert, we own such equipment. We go on tour with head liners, and bring along our crew and all the equipment it take to put on a show. I know it sounds corny, how ever I am living my dream. It is hard to say I am working when you love what you do. Through out the years I've made several good friends in the industry Bobby Pulido, Emillo, Michael Salgado,Rick Trevino,Chris Cagle, Tiesto and Bart just to mention a few. e, when ever some of my friends are driving through they will usually stop stretch or have a quick meal, on thier way back they some times stay here at my house, due to the heavy partying! and when I'm in there part of the country, I usually stay at one of thier ranches. Most of the artist we tour with are latin and country acts such as Moenia, Maldita Vesidad, Julieta Venegas,Alex Sintec, Cumbia Kings, Menuedo, Trick Pony, Chris Cagle, Lady Anebella and the # 1 Latin Christian singer Jesus Adrain Romero, in November were goin with Pantion Recoco on a west coast tour 16 shows in 20 days and in February and March 28 shows across the US in 35 days. I can't thik of one hip hop artist I havent done to include Vanilla Ice, and last month I did DMX at Cohen Stadium. (his first show since getting out of prision) I really hate rap but I'll take the work. We have just recently unvailed our new million dollar line array rig At the DJ Tiesto Concert NOV. 07-2009 at Cohen Stadium. That is the exact system (stacks and racks)that is in the process of being made for us wright now in Germany. D&B. I will be 1 of 7 companys in the United States to own this type of rig,(4th largest) myself and 4 of my enginers will be flown up to Munich Germany for seven dyas to be trained on this rig and to also see the factory. All expences paid by D&B you can bet it's in the six hundred thousand dollars I'm paying. When I am not touring we take on local shows as well, and when there is no shows my favorite thing to do is stay home be spend time with my wife and our 3 dogs 2 pitts 1 boxer, and 7 cats who live outside, watching movies in my home theatre, Belive it or not I enjoy mowing our lawn about one acre of grass I also enjoy cleaning our pool and I try to swim daily. One of my most relaxing and favorite hobbys is taking out our boat and rv to the lakes and go fishing. Diane and I are planning to adopt a baby in the next year, yea I know it's alittle late but better late than never, with what I do for a living I'll have plenty of time to spend with my wife and baby and if need be I can always bring them along on my tour bus.
