Gary's Story

Time keeps passing. I served twenty years in the Army as an Imagery Analysis Warrant Officer and retired. I then became a contractor supporting the Army. I worked for a company called ManTech for seventeen years providing fielding and training on new intelligence computer equipment to soldiers. I am married to my wife Dara for thirty plus years. I have a daughter Karri a Labor and Delivery Nurse, and a son Joshua who is just finished an associated degree in Criminal Justice, and is hoping to become a police officer. But right now he will be going back to college to work on an EMT/Paramedic certification if the LEO does not pan out.. I live in the town of Killeen Texas, next to Fort Hood. Texas remains too darned hot for me, but you do what ya gotta do. I enjoy gardening, pickling and canning, as well as hunting and fishing. I enjoy dabbling in the old ways of preserving food and meats. I do miss the woods and mountains of NY....Expand for more
New update Jan 15. Have retired from my contractor job. Got to be too much travel. Currently looking into working at a small business garden center. Being into organic gardening, growing naturally and natives here in Texas its right up my alley. Hope it works out. As usual, life goes on. Now (Sep15-July 17) work a the Stillhouse Hollow Marina as a maintenance person. Have a long history with the owner from our Army days. Can't beat the work, all done in natures cathedral. I've always been happy in the woods or the country. When I'm done, I fish. Tough life. Life obviously goes on. Son has changed career directions, now EMT/Firefighter, service is in the blood. He is working on his Paramedic. Daughter and wife are all doing well. I remain grateful that my health is generally good, less the wear and tear. I ponder often life in reflection, on looking back, and weighing it against today's BS, I work to keep my inner peace.
