Gary's Story
I remember fondly our friendships, what we learned and shared. I wish I had made more effort to get to know more of you, and to have known you authentically. I've been in Colorado since 1983, after having been in Oregon for about a decade prior to that. I discovered Hawaii is spiritually home in many ways, though the intermountain West is physically home.
Somehow I wound up being a journalist, then a market researcher and analyst covering technology such as the internet, data networks, mostly in regard to business challenges.. anything about St. Francis of Assisi, that's my inspiration.
Still waiting for grandchildren, but had four delightful and challenging children. If I had to recount my life's purpose, no matter what else I might prefer, it was to have those kids. Life is more like high school than college, in the end. Perhaps we were tribal then, bit on such an innocent scale, compared to everything else to follow. That's worth quite a lot. The dumbness was there, but we mostly overcame it, I think. At least we might see the folly of excessive tribalism. It seems unfashionable these days to favor unity over division; oneness over multiplicity; the timeless over fashion. Universal over particular; acceptance in place of exclusion; wisdom more than certitude; tolerance instead of judgment. May our Creator be pleased and praised. And thank all of you who I have encountered on my journey.
