Gary's Story

Hello fellow AARP members!!!!!! How's life in da hood???--Sorry; I am a special ed teacher in Los Angeles, working with a class full of "gangstas", so sometimes I get carried away!!!! I also am psychotherapist in a drug rehab, so I see it all!!!!How did we get so old???? Well, as they say on the tee-shirt, "Poo-Poo Occurs!!! I am married, and Debbie and I are celebrating our 33rd anniversary on the 25th of May. When marriage was invented, and the phrase, "Till Death Do Us Part" was decided upon, people only lived untill they were 35!!!!! Gave it a whole different meaning. There should be a doo-over!!!!--Just kidding; we are very happy. My son, Hunter, is almost 21. He is autistic, but very high functioning; just a lttle odd, but so is his old man! We are very active in the autism community here in LA, and I provide a "sound therapy" for autistic people to lessen their sound sensitivity. My daughter, Dana , is 18 on the 26th of May,and is going to UCLA in the fall as a junior; she graduated HS at 16, and went to community college for 2 years. She and her brother are adopted from Korea; nobody from my loins would be that smart. I still play guitar, sing and write, but no more performing--too much grey hair! I need a 12 step program for E-Bay!!!! I just can't stop buying guitars! It's a sickness. I came to LA in 1978 to be John Lennon, but nobody cared!!! The next day it was announced that Elvis died, falling off the toilet with a face full of cocaine, I thought that was a sign, but no dice!!!Like a friend so wisley said to me, "maybe the cosmos had enough songwriters and needed a special ed teacher. " I prefer believing that, rather that I might have sucked at it. Dealing with that will pay for my shrink's pool, if you get my drift! My health is good; I had an angioplasty in 2004; no heart attack; they just discovered blockage. I went to the hospital reporting discomfort in my chest, and they hooked me up to Norad, and found the blockage, and then blasted it out!!!! All is well! Exercise is not my best freind, bu...Expand for more
t the moron does find a way to infiltrate my daily life. Diet is a concern too. I have lost about 20+ lbs. If I had gotten much bigger, they would have written "Goodyear" on my butt, and flown me over downtown!!!!Thank God I have insurance!!! What a country! 90 Zillion dollars on a usless war, and nobody has healthcare!! I simply don't understand how anyone could vote for a Republican!!!!The good news is we get rid of George Bush in January! I never thought I would live long enough to see a President worse than Nixon, or a war more stupid than Viet Nam, but ya gotta be careful what you wish for! I don't know what is worse; that Bush is so stupid, or that he is so evil????I guess I vote for evil; that is always worse!!!! Evil is no help for New Orleans, evil is not writing a blank check for the tsunami victims. Evil is opposing stem-cell research, screwing with the environment, ; not just the war. If this Spawn of Satan wanted to improve relations with the Muslim world, he simply could have said, "DON'T WORRY, WE'RE HERE, but no such luck. I guess I really went to the attic to find my old bell-bottoms and protest signs whend I burried one of my students who served in Iraq. "All we are saying, is give peace a chance!!!!' Thanks for that one John! If we really want to fix this mess, we should use the defense budget to buy every citizen a Hybrid rather than sending our troops to die. By the way, before you say it, I DO support the troops !!! I support them by wanting to bring them home with all their limbs, and without a traumatic brain injury!!!! That would really tee off the oil barron friends of Bush! I guess old hippies never die; we just hold our peace! I guess this was supposed to be light and fun. Oh well, I tried! Go Obama!!! I guess I won't be getting many responses from the Republican Club of SBHS!!!!I am sure after I end this, I will think of something that was important to say, but I gotta go. I am in class now, and we are voting on who will be voted "most likely to take a life" in the year book. Peace, Gary
