Gary's Story
Dear classmates,
Much has happened in the 26 years since graduating from Lower Merion...it has been an amazing and wonderful journey!!!!
On November 4rth, election day, I will be 54 years old. It is hard to believe I am in my fifties however one thing certainly is true, as each year passes life gets better.
After Lower Merion I spent one unproductive year at Penn. State Univ. I was well on my way to a degree in libations. Needles to say my aspirations to attend medical school were quickly diminishing.
I transferred to Florida State University and graduated with a degree in Psychology. After a couple of years trying for medical school I finally was accepted to the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile and graduated in 1994. I completed 2 internships in Emergency Medicine and Anesthesiology at SUNY Buffalo while trying to figure out which specialty I liked. I thought it was Anesthesiology and entered a residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. I became bored with Anesthesiology and decided to leave the residency to enter the real world and "moonlight" in an Emergency Department in a small South Carolina town called Walterboro. I did this for 2 years and loved the practice of Emergency Medicine and decided to finish...Expand for more
a residency in Emergency Medicine which I did at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
Currently I am a Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physician practicing at the bay medical center in Panama City Florida. I moved from North Carolina 3 years ago.
As for my personal life I married for the first time in 1991 and divorced in 2002. I have 2 wonderful children from that marriage; Alex(19)and Andrew(15).
I remarried in 2006 to Cindy the love of my life. She is an Emergency Nurse.
We have adopted a beautiful boy named Gabriel who is now 7.
My oldest son Alex is a sophomore at Indiana university in the Jacobs school of music. He plays the cello.
Andrew is a senior in high school in Greenville North Carolina.
I have another son named Alex (long story) who is also a senior in high school in Panama City.
I have a daughter in 11th grade in Panama City.
I love to read medical and psychological thrillers and am trying to learn how to play the guitar.
I still love Springsteen and just saw him in concert in Atlanta.
As I approach my mid 50’s I reflect on a truly wonderful past. Lower Merion High School and my friends there were a huge part of that past and I hope all of you are fulfilling your dreams.
My best to all my friends.
Gary.
