Gary's Story
I attended Colorado Christian University in Lakewood after high school, got married to Carol in 1968 and we moved to Portland, OR where we lived for five years while I worked on a masters degree. Had two sons, then moved to Southern Cal to pastor a church. Eventually worked for three years as vice president of the Institute for American Church Growth (1983-1986), and finally ended up teaching at Biola University in La Mirada, CA. Been a prof for 37 years now. Retired from full time teaching in August 2021, but am continuing to teach part time in a doctoral program.
My two sons, Gary II and Aaron, are both married, and I have seven grandchildren ages 10 to 26 (four girls and three boys). One granddaughter is married, with my one great grandson 1.5 years old, ...Expand for more
and another on the way (a boy).
My wife and I own a consulting firm, and we work exclusively with non-profit organizations assisting them to design mission statements, vision statements, and goals. This year (2023) I've worked with groups in Washington, D.C., Indiana, and Guam.
I also am a published writer and author (over 400 articles and 27 books so far), which is very interesting considering the fact that I was a "C" student in English at Palmer High. I'm sure my English teachers would not believe I'm the same person, but it just goes to prove that you never know what God can do in a person's life. One of our former English teachers, Dexter Peak, is the teacher who put the bug in my mind about writing a book back in 1964.
