Gary's Story
Hard to believe it's 35 years since graduation and harder to believe that I've been in California for 22 years. And harder yet to believe that I've never made it back for a reunion. Except the 5 year one... hmm... 30 years is too long.
I moved to CA in 1987 on a transfer with Xerox and didn't really think I'd be here for more than 2-3 years. Surprize!!! I worked at Xerox for 26 years and then moved on to GE 7 years ago when things were winding down for Xerox on the West Coast. The change was terrific since I went from a 45 mile one way commute to a 5 mile one way commute and what a life changer that was! I can go home for lunch.
I'm still active with skiing, furniture building and took up fly fishing a few years back. With the variety of geography here in CA, there's pleanty of opportunity to play at all k...Expand for more
inds of of outdoor activity. I can drive 80 miles get to over 8,000 feet and go skiing and then come home and cut the grass. Still can't get over that! There were days last season when it was 75 at my house and 25 and snowing in the mountains.
Last year in 2008 I finally finished up an MBA program at Pepperdine and with two grown sons and being on my own, it's time to consider what I want to do in the next phase of my life. Hmm... I've been threatening to move to Alaska and live in a tent for a while. Probaby not... Don't want to get eaten by a bear.
I trust my old friends from the class of 74 are doing well and in good health! Drop me a note and come by and visit if you're out this way. The sun is always shining and the convertible is always gassed up!
