Gary's Story
Hi All!: I live in Evergreen, Colorado and I practice dentistry in Denver. The elevation in Evergreen is 7600 feet so the air is thin, LOL. I used to practice in San Diego, then went to Chicago, and now live with the elk and trout in Evergreen.
I have a son who is a physician, and is in his residency for radiology. He is married to an ER physician and they gave us our first grandchild, Giorgio!! My middle daughter is going to go to dental school like her old man. My youngest daughter has just been accepted to Vet School which is really hard to get into.
Each year I play golf in the Great White Open which is a golf tourney some North high grads started in 1981. This year will be our 30 anniversary.
I have been lucky enough to have seen some interesting things. I saw the Palio, which is an ancient horse race they run in Siena Italy and this year I saw the Passion Play in Oberammergau, Bavaria. They have been holding it every 10 years since 1633 so they know it by heart.:)))) Frau Grahamer my German teacher at North always mentioned it, so this year I was able to see it. Both the Palio and ...Expand for more
the Play have been conducted since the Middle Ages. I also went to the Catacombs of Palermo Sicily where thay have these dead people they dried out and hung on the walls. Macabre!
I never attended too many concerts as a high schooler but this past years I got to see The Police, Sting, BB King, Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, James Taylor/Carole King Sheryll Crow, and U2. I can barely hear them because I have lost most hearing in my old age but its fun none the less.
I am really interested in what high school meant to you. I am especially interested in what it meant to the young women of our time. With Med, Dent, Law, Vet, Pharm, and Business School now being made up of way more than 50% females, who were my female classmates that could have had a different career track? Would you have wanted a different career track?
Most of my classmates seemed to have no idea of where they were going or what they wanted to accomplish. Boys today still have that same lack of direction but nowadays girls are driven.
If you could share your thoughts, I would love to read them. Don't be shy.
