Gary's Story
On October 11, 2011, my novel, The Length of the Leash, was published and is available through Amazon, Barnes and Noble for Kindle and Nook, as well as hardcover and softcover. It's also available as an Ebook, and in hardcover and softcover from hundreds of vendors worldwide. Thanks to everyone who is helping to make it a success! I've included a brief description below:
"Until Maria Johansen walked through the door of his Oakland law office, Nick Mastro had his priorities straight. Certainty was more valuable than success, but the world Maria and her powerful husband, Arthur, draw him into puts all that in question. Lives unravel when Arthur joins in a conspiracy that risks the wellbeing of tens of thousands, and recklessness is transformed into betrayal and heartbreak. Undertaking a twisting journey from the Russian steppes to the San Francisco Bay, and the jungles of Guatemala, their quests for sanity among the remnants of the Cold War tests the worlds they have created."

e returning to Berklee College of Music to complete my degree in composition (I still gig on occasion, but not as much as I'd like). I met my wife, Mary, in 1984 while she was attending Boston Univeristy. We married in 1990, but first moved to San Diego in 1989, where I later earned a master's degree in clinical psychology while Mary completed law school. In 1997 we moved to the San Francisco Bay area, and soon after bought a house in the Oakland hills. Mary works as a Federal Administrative Law Judge, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and currently work as a Clinical Review Specialist for Alameda County (Oakland). Prior to my current position I worked for eight years as a Court's Investigator for Child Protective Services, and also worked for San Francisco Jail Psychiatric Services, U.C. Irvine Neuropsychiatry, and for the U.S. Navy in San Diego. Our son Alex was born in 2004, and we've been exploring the joys and frustrations of parenthood ever since. I look forward to hearing from anyone in the class and finding out what people have been doing.
