Gary's Story
After graduating in 1973 I attended Tennessee Tech for two years. Then I began working in the data center for Commerce Union Bank in July 1975. I married my high school sweetheart in August 1976. Through various mergers and acquisitions Commerce Union Bank became Bank of America. In 1996 I relocated with the bank to the Atlanta, GA area where I managed their data center. inated in 2012 which is a polite way of saying I was getting too old and making too much salary. For the next 5 years I did IT Project Management under contract for AT&T. I retired at 62 and haven't regretted it for a second.
My wife, Sheri, and I have been married 47 years (as of 2023). We have 3 children, each married with children, and they live close so we get to see the grandchildren growing up and be a part of their lives.
