Gary's Story

Life (updated) As of 2008, I've been married for 9 years and still going. My sons name is Jake Richard and even after all this time, he's still the apple in my eye. He's a great kid and I wish him nothing but the best as he grows up!! Hopefully I will be able to be the greatest Dad I can be to him. Guess time will tell!! Since graduating high school....too long ago, I did the college thing (SMU), worked around Milford and then got hired into what I've been doing for the last 18 plus years, Computer Programming. I've worked in Rockland for a year, then in Plano, Tx for 2 years, back to Boston for almost 2 years, and have been back in the Plano area for the last 14 plus years. I try to get back to Milford to see family, almost all of which are still there. Some are in California, but Mass is where the vacations are spent. Let's just say this, for those that knew me, I'm not like what I was back then. Look the same, but not really. More content with myself these years more so than when I was in high school. Isn't that how we all progress?? School Ahhhh.....the days of school. I actually have many good memories of school. I had some great teachers that you wouldn't think were 'cool' but when thinking back, they sure were. My favorite teacher of all was probably Nello Allegrezza, without a doubt, with "Sweet" Lou Piazza ranking right up there as well. The funniest teacher I had to have had was Sam Magee. I think my cousin and I had more fun in his English classes than anything else. Would I do anything different? Nope....I enjoyed school, the good and the bad. I loved the sports, the people and all that was there. Milford was a great place to grow up and I am glad I was able to go through what I did. I think all kids have that special teacher they tend to gravitate towards.....call it a childhood crush or whatever. For teachers, I'd have to say it was Mrs. Tumulo as she was probably the prettiest teacher in the school. As for kids, probably my favorite, Deb, whom I went to the prom with, though she may not have ever known how much. College As mentioned previously, I attended Southeastern Mass University. I planned on being a Computer Science major, but at that time, it seemed more like having fun was a priority, hence t...Expand for more
he issues with a sub 2.0 GPA at the end of Freshman year. A change in my major to Business with computer emphasis got me back in the good graces of the school. I then started towards a MIS degree which was a nice change as I had to retake all the classes I failed as a freshman for computer. Funny how studying does good for the class!! I finally got out in 89 as I took one semester off and the change in majors forced me back for another year. It was well spent as I was a RA in the dorms. That was a fun year. Workplace Once getting out of high school, I spent time working as a roofer and installing gutters in Holliston. I did that for the better part of 6-7 years as well as doing my own odd jobs on the side. Also spent time siding, doing odd carpentry work and all around contract work. I accepted a job for EDS in 1990. I worked in Rockland for a year, then moved to Plano, Tx to attend 3 months of training. I decided at that point that I liked the area and continued to work here for another 2 or so years. I moved back to Mass for another 2 or so years of work and then moved back to Plano, where I've been since 1995. I started as an Business Analyst, understanding and working with the customers we supported at that time. The training I went to Texas for was pure technical training, Cobol, Assembler, online mainframe, etc. I've been involved in mainframe programming since that time and also work in SQL and PowerBuilder. I enjoy what I do in the sense that if I were to win $20,000,000, I wouldn't quit my job. I enjoy the challenges given to me as each one forces me to think differently as to how to solve the problem. That's something I enjoy. Generic I am a speed fanatic....and have been for many years now. I've been into cars having owned a 77 T/A with 400+ HP, Mustang Cobras and Saleen Mustangs, and 3 sport bikes. I am still heavy into sports in that I am always in the pool during the summer, run 3-5 miles at least 5 days a week and am trying to get my son into biking 3-4 miles a day for the summer. I love being outside and enjoy the summers in Texas because they are so hot. I see nothing wrong with running 5 miles in the morning and then coming home to spend another 2 hours doing the lawn in 95 degree weather.
